July 31, 200719 yr Would it not be safe to assume since Dunn wasn't traded that the Reds will be picking up the option on his contract for next year? Surely to goodness their not going to let him go for a supplemental draft pick.

July 31, 200719 yr And we might want to think about about spending Milton money unless we see a nice payroll increase. I have listed some of the pay increases due Reds players for 2008 Arroyo: from 2.75 mill to 3.8 mill+ 2.5mill signing bonus Harang: from 4.25 mill to 6.75 mill Gonzalez: from 3.5 mill to 4.62 mill Freel: from 1.7 mill to 3 mill Weathers: from 2.25mill to 2.75 mill Stanton: from 2 mill to 3 mill Ross: 1.6 millto 2.5 mill Coffey: 407k to 925 k Phillips: 407k to Arbitration That's 11.37 mill MORE.....WITHOUT Phillips salary in arbitration Lance.
July 31, 200719 yr Just don't understand why you don't get rid of either Conine or Hatteberg. This team isn't going anywhere this year, they could have at least gotten SOMETHING for them since they won't be resigned next year. There is that waiver possibility, but I'm sure several teams would have taken a solid veteran for their stretch run like Conine or Hatteberg. Going to be an interesting off-season and we aren't even into August.

Another deadline passes an nothing to show for it. I will say that it is JMO but I believe that this off season will be THE most important in Reds hstory. Imo it is now or never to put a product on the field worthy of a team that Reds fans deserve. This may sound too drastic but I honestly thought that things would be different with this new front office. I know that there is no overnight answers/quick fixes but it is looking to me moe and more that the "new" boss is the same as the "old" boss.
August 1, 200719 yr Author Could this mean a New General Manager at the end of the year...? Lets hope so.

Reds management truly believes this team is better than they have shown, and are close to contending. This belief will set the Reds back at least another 3-4 years. We are looking at least 20 years between playoff appearances. Very sad state of affairs indeed.

August 1, 200719 yr He'll say he meant it just like that, but who's to say he didn't just lose control of it at just the right time? Super play.
August 1, 200719 yr It kind of looked like he didn't mean to do that but if he did that was an unreal play.
