The same harm it was to let Homer Bailey come up when he wasn't ready...

They need to start next season with one of them on the roster with Votto, if that's the direction they're headed...

I was 100% in agreement with you in regards to Bailey (check the tape :D ), but I feel completely differently about a position player. There are enough veterans on this team to give Votto the direction he needs, and Cantu has spent plenty of time in the bigs already.

Just don't see the value of finishing in 4th place with a 40 year old retiring Conine and a 37 year old Hatteberg -- and I love Hatteberg and what he brings to the table. Just seems pointless to me.

Next year they will have Cantu and Votto at first, neither Hatteberg or Conine will be here IMO.

Agreed. Barring a trade for a Cotchman type of player, that is.

You are correct, Hatteberg and Conine will be gone.

I think Conine will be one of those late trades to a post-season team...

How do they pull those off, anyways?

Is it the waiver wire?

After they pass waivers they can be traded, sorta.

I'm sure Conine could clear waivers, and in thinking about it, Hatteberg MAY be able to as well. I can't imagine that Bronson, if they are dying to trade him, would be able to though.

Agreed...

If Krivsky truly is gone, his hands were probably tied anyway...

I truly believe that Castellini / Williams believe their 40 man is a dependable bull-pen away from the top of the Central. I'm neither supporting nor opposing, but I do feel that is their belief. They have Milton's money in the off-season to use on a solid set-up man (men), so they make go into 2008 with:

Votto / Cantu

Phillips

Gonzo

Edwin

Dunn

Hamilton / Freel

Griffey

Ross (alas, no choice)

A bench of Hopper / Valentin / Dickerson? / Herr? / Cantu / Freel

Rotation of:

Harang

Arroyo

Bailey

Livingston / Dumatrait / Maloney / Cheap F.A. signing.

The Cardinals won it all with a catcher that was almost on the interstate...at least until the WS...

With a solid bullpen that does look pretty good. Good enough to contend in the central anyway.

As I said about a week ago on here, Wayne Krivsky will NOT be back next season.

Is that you're opinion or have you already fired him personally?:p

Told directly to me by the same person that this time last year told me Steve Stewart wouldn't be back on the radio...were you laughing in October when that was confirmed?

After the next 2 games the rotation is TBA and Dumatrait was pulled from his start tonight.

There are some rotation starts that are TBA coming up and Dumatrait was pulled from his start tonight.

Kriv told Fay that he wouldn't confirm any starters until he spoke directly to the players. I think it seems fairly logical that Dumatrait is coming up for a start.

Anyone else find it odd that The Lizard, just called up, told Fay directly that his shoulder still bothers him from time to time? Huh? I don't get him getting the nod before Phil D.

That explains why he didn't make any last minute trades then if he is already fired. No need to mess things up any more than they already are.:thumb:
