September 4, 200719 yr Or a man looking at his job as an escape for the nightmare he has to deal with when he goes home... Don't get me wrong, I'm not dogging on Gonzo. I wouldn't wish what he's going thru on anyone. If I'm Petey Mac, I just have to find a way to keep Kepp playing at least 4-5 games a week.

September 4, 200719 yr Why did Pete pinch hit Ellison when you have 3 much better options in Kepp, Hopper (who is killing lefties), and Cantu? He has managed himself out of consideration.

"There’s a lot of game left. You’re talking about the sixth inning. I don’t want to use my better pinch hitters in my estimation that early in the ball game, especially with two outs. It’s tough to come up with a two-out hit. If Jason comes up with a two-out hit, that’s a bonus. To me, that’s too early to use my best. Especially since they have (Pedro) Feliciano, they’ve got (Scott) Schoeneweis, another kid (Willie Collazo) and their closer (Billy Wagner) is left-handed. So I might have needed all three of them to win a game."

September 4, 200719 yr Fools gold that you know wasn't going to last... There have been many a thread started in the sports section on it....

Gregg and Mo had a good point. With these guys going up and down, and some going up and not coming back down, do you think it's taking a toll on Jay Bruce? Hopefully he's mentally tough enough to handle it but it has to be discouraging, regardless of Krivsky's 'reason'...

I don't know, but is there no one better than Coffey to call up? I am glad to get a chance to see Votto.
September 5, 200719 yr Coffey, in regular fashion, comes in a reachable game and blows it, 8-6 when he comes in, 11-6 when he goes out, without retiring a batter.

September 5, 200719 yr Yeah, but he sprinted in from the pen... Like everyone else, he wants to get it over quick. He is going out of the game faster and faster, like coming out of the pen, maybe if he walks slowly in, he will last a little longer.
