I blame nobody but Lucas. If his dad was as hooked up as people say, he would have known like the rest of America that Billy D, was talking to Memphis during his recruiting.

The kid made a choice and it didn't work out. I for one am not going to hold a grudge and would welcome him into the fold in Lexington.

He would probably play 15 -20 minutes a game this upcoming season, and step right into the starting PG spot after Ramel leaves. Sure, we MIGHT get a better point gaurd next recruiting season, but couldn't we still use some scholorships for the front line?

Now, that's a refreshingly mature attitude towards the situation, CFJ. Kudos. Just when I thought all UK fans were going to be spoiled, bitter, and spiteful.

Welcome to the 82%, my friend. :ylsuper:

UK no doubt wants another PG, they would take him with open arms, and fans would love him within about oh.......15 minutes.

First great pass, SA will be comparing him to Dirk Minniefield.

:D.

Why not take him. Just because he signed with Flordia does not make him a worse ball player, he can play the game or we would not have wanted him. So yea take him if he wants to come.

I'd love to have Lucas...landing another guy now, would put less pressure on next year's class. It makes sense in every aspect...it would boost our roster, give us a better chance to succeed now, which would only help our recruiting for next year, but more importantly 2 and 3 years from now, which is where we definitely need to start winning the recruiting wars.

It would give Billy G time to develop relationships and such on the recruiting trail for future recruits (2 and 3 years away) and ease the pressure a little on having to come up big next year. Take 'em when you can get 'em I say...I think UK has a pretty solid chance at getting him if he decides to leave the Gators, and I'd expect almost all would be happy about it.

From Gatorbait:

... "Coach Donovan leaving means a lot," Lucas, a 5-foot-10, 160-pound point guard from Houston Bellaire High School to Rivals.com exclusively. "I'm not in a rush to make a decision on what to do, though. I'll just wait and see who they hire, and then talk to him and see what he has to say. I can't jump to any conclusions right now."

Talk is rampant that former Florida assistant and current VCU head coach Anthony Grant will take over the head job at Florida.

"Anthony Grant is the name that I keep hearing," said Lucas. "I don't know him, but all the recruits have called me and told me that he is a great guy.

"We are just all in a state of disbelief. We were excited about who we were going to play for and where we were going to play, but now everything is up in the air and we are just waiting to see who they hire."

Florida's incoming recruits were not the first to call Lucas, however. A future Wildcat actually dialed him first.

"The first person to call me was Patrick Patterson," said a laughing Lucas. "He said, 'I told you so' and told me to quit playing around and come to Kentucky." ...

We're going to have to start a JV program at UK to compensate everyone's playing time!

I hope that he comes to U.K. but if he doesn't I just hope that he leaves Fla. - with the Gators being a rival, I don't want to have to deal with him through a conference season. Imo Oklahoma State would be a strong possibility for him but hoping he will become a U.K. Wildcat!!

:thumb: :thumb: I agree, can't understand anyone not wanting Lucas - imo he is that good ;) .

I think Jai will stay in Florida...

I'd say there is a pretty decent chance he could. But, if he does leave, you'd have to think UK would stand a great chance to land him. How lucky would that be for Billy G...to land two elite guards due to coaching changes and Patterson to boot?

I would take him but I am not sold on him being an elite point guard, especially in the SEC. He is very small and not a strong player either. He is a good player IMO, but I don't see him being a difference maker from what I have seen and read. I would rather use the scholarship on a player next year.
