June 2, 200719 yr Mexitucky, I could not have said it better, thus Adam Sandler. I agree with you 110%. A highschooler just does not get him or herself into trouble of this magnitude. I am sure there is some history and that is probably the reason for the high bond. I am just disappointed in UK for not "flushing" out Jefferson's shortfalls during the recruiting process. It's time to reward the athletes in school who also happen to get good grades and happen to be an asset within their communities. Although Duran did do something VERY VERY stupid and committed a felonious act, he actually did get good grades and was in the I.B program at Holmes just so you know. Also he volunteered at local elementary schools to tutor them and participated in a "big brother" program within the Covington Independent school system.

Isn't that the way it works? The only injustice I can see here is that Duran broke into someone's house; stole guns, drugs etc...The coach was irresponsible for letting students know about his guns, but as far as I know it's still against the law to break into peoples homes and steal their stuff. Isn't this what has happened here? Trying to put any other spin on the incident is shallow and downright delusional. There's even folks on this site that seem to be trying to slide away from reality and stretch the truth and give a tone that they are somehow supportive of Duran no matter what. I bet if someone broke into your home you'd want the criminal to pay. So how's this any different? Granted, there are injustices all the time in the court of law and I wish that the system was fool proof, but it isn't. This case is not one of them. He screwed up. Plain and simple.

Alrighty then...There goes that old light being misdirected again. Coach might've been imprudent and irresponsible, but two wrongs don't make a right. So let me get this straight... So as long as someone leaves themselves open to be violated then the violator is free to take advantage of that and then ultimately it's the victim's fault? O.K., I get it. I'm starting to smell the next conspiricy theory to be that the coach set Duran up to get him busted so that he could get his 15 minutes. Yeah, that's probably it. Poor Duran, he's being so mistreated. I mean, what the heck did he do wrong? I guess that it would've been much better had he not been arrested, then he could've sold the 7 guns on the street to put a little change in his pocket and the city of Covington would be so much safer with 7 stolen guns running around in the hands of God only knows who. Just think, all that money could've helped Duran be a really good 'Big Brother' and show some kid a really good time.
