Article doesn't say whether Williams was charged with 1st degree, but still a felony. Williams stole stereo equipment and was sentenced to 18 months probation. Jefferson was B&E for guns, and is looking at a possible 20 years.

If he did not get in trouble now, he would have while at UK so it turned out for the good for UK not to have to deal w/the problem. Discussion of adult criminal behavior is permitted in all non-high school forums. However, discussion of criminal behavior by juveniles (anyone under 18) is never permitted anywhere on BGP. It doesn't matter if the person is an adult now or not. Any criminal activity by a juvenile is off limits forever.

May 26, 200719 yr I agree with RP, Willie Williams was discussed on this site ad nauseam, even though the majority of this transgressions occurred as a juvenile. Maybe this hits a little too close to home for some, but Mr. Jefferson is clearly an adult from a legal standpoint, although it appears he may still have some growing up to do.

May 26, 200719 yr Wow I havent been on here in a few days so i just got wind of this and am shocked. This was a very bad decision by Duran. I know neither his mother or father brought him up to do something like this and I feel more sorry for them than him. A waste of talent that I never would have expected. Also, the age listed is incorrect. He is 18, not 19.
May 26, 200719 yr It's a shame that people can be so harsh, The person i feel for the most is his mother, she is a sweet lady that always looked for the best for her son, If i remember correctly she suspened him a game or to his junior year in basketball for not having all his grades at a C level or above. It's just a shame.

It's just a shame. Exactly what I was thinking. Most of the people on here saying the harsh things are people who have no clue about him or his family background. I'm not trying to back the young man up in any way, he made a bad decision, but IMO it reflects the people who he was hanging out with outside of school more than who he is as a person. He just needs to grow up a little and realize that being 18 now, he has to be a little bit smarter about what he does. His mother isn't the person who has the final verdict on any disciplinary actions that need to be taken anymore.

I compeltly agree, and no by no means am I close to the situation, It is his fault for making this terrible decision, but in no ways does it make him a criminal or a felon. Even more, this by no ways gives his parents justice as they have done all they can to raise him the proper way. People need to grow up and think if this is how they would react if it was their own kids or family members in this situation, The sad thing is if he wasn't an athelte, this story would not be anywhere as big as it is.

DJ from all accounts is/was a good kid, but running around the wrong crowd will only get you into trouble. The problem now is that he is an adult, and stealing guns in a robbery is something that most Judges will not tolerate since those guns are usually sold to other criminals to use in additional crimes.... I just hope all this is a big mix-up but it doesn't sound good. At this point in time, losing his scholarship at UK is the least of his worries.....
