Big difference between getting arrested for a felony stealing 7 guns, prescription drugs, and an air conditioner (I'm trying to picture this) vs being "dismissed" for academics, rules violations, etc.

Some people just don't care about messy things like facts and logic.

So now it's the victim's fault? Alrighty then...There goes that old light being misdirected again. Coach might've been imprudent and irresponsible, but two wrongs don't make a right. So let me get this straight... So as long as someone leaves themselves open to be violated then the violator is free to take advantage of that and then ultimately it's the victim's fault? O.K., I get it. I'm starting to smell the next conspiricy theory to be that the coach set Duran up to get him busted so that he could get his 15 minutes. Yeah, that's probably it. Poor Duran, he's being so mistreated. I mean, what the heck did he do wrong? I guess that it would've been much better had he not been arrested, then he could've sold the 7 guns on the street to put a little change in his pocket and the city of Covington would be so much safer with 7 stolen guns running around in the hands of God only knows who. Just think, all that money could've helped Duran be a really good 'Big Brother' and show some kid a really good time.

The around town speculation is fine, but I doubt he asked someone to steal his gun collection and air conditioning unit. We may find out later he did, but right now I'm leaning against that scenario.

Again, I'm leaning in the direction that he didn't want his things stolen. Has he gained his 15 minutes of fame? Honestly if he's looking for his 15 minutes it's not working. I can't even picture who he is. Since this story has surfaced I've only thought about Duran.

That's a crock and a good look into one of the REAL problems with society today!! In many folks mind it's NEVER the perpetrator's fault, no matter what?? It's always a parent's, teacher's, coach's, boss's, old girl or boyfriend's, etc., etc. fault, because they somehow mishanded the offending person earlier in life.

 

Whatever happened to admitting when you were wrong, and taking responsibility?? As long as kids/young adults are raised to blame everything and everyone but themselves in situations like this; the results will not only be increasingly problematic, but equally predictable!!

With that said, it is sad that someone went that route.

This situation is in no way racially motivated. The young man messed up. The people of Covington want to see Duran succeed, along with Austin and Greg. This former coach however has used this situation for his 15 minutes.

If this is the kind of bull crap that Duran's entourage is filling his head with then I doubt that he will ever have a chance to see the ills of his ways. Why can't people take responsibility for their actions without trying to shine the light is some unfounded illogical direction? He did something terribly wrong and he now has to pay. Isn't that the way it works? The only injustice I can see here is that Duran broke into someone's house; stole guns, drugs etc...The coach was irresponsible for letting students know about his guns, but as far as I know it's still against the law to break into peoples homes and steal their stuff. Isn't this what has happened here? Trying to put any other spin on the incident is shallow and downright delusional. There's even folks on this site that seem to be trying to slide away from reality and stretch the truth and give a tone that they are somehow supportive of Duran no matter what. I bet if someone broke into your home you'd want the criminal to pay. So how's this any different? Granted, there are injustices all the time in the court of law and I wish that the system was fool proof, but it isn't. This case is not one of them. He screwed up. Plain and simple.

My guess is that was aimed at the justiced system and not Mr. Marshall.

Well now for my two cents. I have followed Duran's career since his sophomore year as a spectator. I have seen his immaturity and inability to respect not only officials but also teammates. He has yelled at them on the floor, it has costs his team games and when I heard he was given a scholly to UK for football I just had this bad feelign in my stomach. I kept thinking, once he gets down there and starts with his attitude and the other guys see it, he will be the first they throw into the "Bull in the ring" drill. I didnt think he would last in college and this just supports my theory that his destiny never was to play for UK. First the leg injury which kept him out most of his SR year in basketball, then UK honors the scholly and then he goes and does this.

 

Just stupid but almost expected. The writing was on the wall with his various character displays on the court and putting yourself in that situation regardless if it was your idea or not is just senseless. He deserves a 2nd chance as far as turning his life around and becoming a better person but his playign days are over. JMO

I wasn't certain if you were aware that this came from the newspaper or if you thought that someone on this site made the accusation. I just wanted to clear that up in case you weren't for sure.
