April 17, 200719 yr The worst part about legalizing it would be driving while stoned. That's like driving while sleepy which is worse than driving drunk. But then again, beer is legal so why not weed.
April 17, 200719 yr I have mixed feelings about it. I can see the good points about legalizing it, but something just doesn't feel right about it. You summed up my feelings to a tee. My head understands the argument but something says this is not the right thing to do.:thumb:
April 17, 200719 yr I wouldn't be against it, but if that stuff was legal, a lot more people would be like zombies. I couldn't imagine being able to get high everyday, anywhere, anytime. Wouldn't want to do it, just doesn't sound like a good plan to me. Alcohol is legal, do you get drunk everyday, anywhere, anytime?
April 17, 200719 yr Yes -- instead of letting slime-balls get rich selling it on street corners, let's tax the bejeesus out of it and use the money for something that matters. I wouldn't smoke it if legal (heck, I don't drink and that is legal), but I certainly wouldn't care if they sold it at Walgreens. America's "war on drugs" is a joke and a colossal waste of money.
April 17, 200719 yr I see no value, for legalizing. I understand the position, of tax dollars but the increased revenue, would not outweigh the driving accidents, deaths, robberies and related, legalizing would bring, since many would have access and be out, instead of their own confines.

Do you really feel there are people that would like to smoke marijuana that can't get it now? I don't. You want to make smoking it in public illegal? I'd be fine with that -- I don't want my son getting a contact high in a poorly ventilated establishment.

Also, a society makes it legal and they are saying it is okay to be stoned.

April 17, 200719 yr For the government to justify legalizing marijuana to their constituents they would have to put a massive tax on it. That would create a black market, just like what is happening in Canada with cigarettes. The criminal element will never leave just because it’s “legal”.
April 17, 200719 yr People are going to use and BUY marijuana whether it be legal or not. With that said, make it legal, tax it, and make some money!!! I have no personal interest, but why not profit from this? Treat it like alcohol in regards to driving under the influence, and things should be fine!

April 17, 200719 yr Is it okay to be drunk? It is not legal in this country to be publically drunk. Can you socially smoke pot without getting high? BTW, I will not be leading the charge but I wouldn't be against outlawing of alcohol either.
