You absolutely can smoke weed and not get high.

 

And absolutely it should be legal... I don't smoke it, but it's doing no good saying it's not legal.... People still smoke it like crazy and unless they're doing it in public they very rarely get caught anyways... It's a waste.

As far as the price issue is concerned, I feel that if it were to be legalized, it would be so mass produced and regulated that the every day peddlers that we have now wouldn't be able to grow it on their own and still make money off of it.

What about the position of the high taxes on it to regulate and make money off of it. I think those who are growing it on their own continue to do so and sell it taxfree.

I look at it kind of like cigarettes. The taxes wouldn't have to be that high for the government to make an absurb amount of money off of it. Not to mention the absurb amount of money they would be saving by not fighting it anymore. It may not be that way right away but I just feel that if it were legalized, the black market for it would eventually die out.

It's not like alcohol in that it is a pretty envolved process to make. You just get a pot, put some dirt in it and plant a seed. How are you going to regulate or tax that? If you say only certain people can grow it then you have a situation that is no different then what we have now except you won't have people mass growing it to sell.

I agree with your first points but it's not like you just pull it out of the ground, stick it in a bag and sell it. There is a process that it has to go through. It's not a highly specialized process but it still does take some time.

I do understand that it takes a lot more alcohol and a lot more time of drinking to get to the point that you are not in your right mind than it does pot.

 

You legalize it and I fear you are telling kids that it is okay to do it.

It depends on who you are!!

Some people can get plenty drunk with 3 or 4 shots of whiskey in 10 minutes pretty quick.

 

Personally, I could do most things high that I could NOT do drunk.

I can paint, play music, go hiking, enjoy Kings Island, go swimming,

go shopping, hit the mall and not stumble, fumble around, slurring my speech and being sick.

 

I wish Dateline would do a driving test on being high like they do being drunk!

They may as well admit they are not going to do much to stamp it out and legalize it. I've heard arguments it's really no worse than alcohol.

I think 12 states have legalized it for legitimate medical reasons. Many people suffering with chronic pain say it is a better pain killer than most of the narcotic pain drugs on the market.

Interesting study recently released out of London stating that one of the ingredients in pot causes some people to become paranoid and have psychotic delusions. They also tested it on people who are schizophrenics and found it made their condition much, much worse (they had expected the results to be just the opposite due to the alleged "calming" effect of pot). According to the report, the study was prematurely stopped because continuing the study would have been unethical due to the reaction being so bad.

Can you link that cause I have a friend that thinks there are no bad side effects to pot.

When I was about 9, I asked my uncle if I could run the errands with him. We went up in the mountains outside of Woodbine to a trailer that was a bootlegger. THE illegal bootlegger had a drive thru. Hilarious.

 

And back to my argument of more people have died on a yearly basis because of alcohol SINCE prohibition was repealed than died during prohibition from alcohol.

Why is it Illegal in the first place? I wonder if it has something to do with it being more Profitable Illegal. That is for the Government and the dealers! I know this one guy that sold it,and He was very much against it becoming Legal.$$$!
