April 16, 200719 yr You guys are missing the point! I'm saying, single shootings do occur somewhere every day. It's a fact of life. You're not going to send in hundreds of officers to suyrround every building on a campus just because of a single shooting. That's just not going to happen. I know what you mean.:thumb:
April 16, 200719 yr As a teacher, these things make me want to vomit while scaring me all at the same time.
April 16, 200719 yr Author If it turns out that the shooter is responsible for the bomb threats and everything else, this will go down as one of the most well-planned terror attacks in history. Another big concern is whether this was someone acting alone or if there are still others involved.
April 16, 200719 yr They keep comparing it to the Texas Tower Sniper, but it has already eclipsed the University of Texas shootings. This is the worst school massacre since the 1927 bombings of a Bath, Michigan school that killed 45, mostly 2nd grade children.
April 16, 200719 yr Bfan, typically "everday shootings" aren't rampages. Kids who shoot others at school don't typically just shoot one person. They take out as many as possible and then the cowards usually kill themselves. The school was still holding classes over two hours after the first shots were fired! This is also the same campus that had a similar situation just eight months ago. There is going to be a lot of heat on the administration.

How is there going to be a lot of heat on the administration?? This isn't a high school. How do you protect a campus with 26000 students? That would be equal to shutting down Florence because you received a bomb threat. We can't even stop shootings at small schools and you want to blame someone on a large college campus?
April 16, 200719 yr I share an office with someone who has a brother that is an engineering student at VTech. He just got off the phone with him and thankfully he is doing fine. He lives in a dorm that is next to the one where the 1st shooting took place this morning. His brother has class in Norris Hall, but not on Mondays.
April 16, 200719 yr This is an absolute tragedy. My heart goes out to the many families who will forever be changed because of the actions of a lowly coward(s). Prayers go out for Matt Webster. Matt was one of the students that was shot today. At last word, he was being transported to the hospital. I do not know the extent of his injuries.
April 16, 200719 yr MSNBC interviewed a man who was shot and he said it was an Asian man with a leather jacket on. He didn't say anything and just come in and unloaded a round into the classroom. He says 10-15 people in the room where hit.

Wasn't sure if you still attended there or not. Did you go to VaTech?
