April 12, 200719 yr Wow. Tubby not even in "others considered". That's what makes the list kinda questionable. How can you be a two time Coach of The Year in the past 10 years and yet still not be under the "Those not listed" Seems like Tubby may've gotten the shaft yet again.
April 12, 200719 yr One word, parody! He has to recruit the same caliber of kids that he faces every night, the key is that he wins with the ones he lands and his non conference schedule has to be one of the tougher ones in the country that way he can get on TV baby. I assume you meant "parity"?

Umm.. he had Adam Morrison. You think Morrison would've gone to any other WAC school? They do play a few tough teams, but here's a selection of their non conference foes: Eastern Washington Rice Baylor Texas San Antonio Idaho Portland State He's a good coach, but you simply cannot compare his winning percentage or number of wins against coaches from quality conferences.
April 12, 200719 yr Wow. Tubby not even in "others considered". But John Beilien was though, wasn't he?
April 12, 200719 yr He was a missed layup away from the Elite 8 this year, coaching a school that had exactly THREE NCAA Tourney wins before his arrival. I just don't think he should be above Self at Kansas and Jim B at syacuse.
April 12, 200719 yr ^ Sorry....no, not yet...but IMO Rupp would be last of those...he coached in a completely different era. He coached in a different era but what difference does that make? You could argue that Wooden be ahead of Rupp but that would be about it. Rupp has more titles than Knight, Smith and Coach K. Also Rupp's winning percentage is higher than any coach in NCAA history that has 500 or more wins with a winning percentage of .822 for his career. Even if someone is a UK hater they cannot deny Rupp to be in the top two at least unless they are blinded by their hatred of UK basketball.
April 12, 200719 yr I just don't think he should be above Self at Kansas and Jim B at syacuse. FWIW Gillispie beat Self this year.
April 12, 200719 yr FWIW Gillispie beat Self this year. Ok he beat him this year. Dean Smith had a winning record against Rupp, but I would bet you think Rupp is the better coach. Billy has been a head coach in the college ranks for 4-5 years and I just don't think he is a top 10 coach. Is he an up and comer? Yes, Will he be a top 10 coach? Who knows. These list are a bunch of BS anyway.

IMO the ONLY REASON why Adolph Rupp isnt thought of higher is because of so many analysts being irresponsible and just writing him off as a racist. Its a sad situation. He probably would have had atleast 1 more title as well. UK was not allowed to play in 1952-53 season and had an outstanding team. The next season they went undefeated, but because of bogus eligibility rules Frank Ramsey and Cliff Hagan were not eligible.
April 12, 200719 yr I just don't think he should be above Self at Kansas and Jim B at syacuse. IMO, Bill Self is nowhwere near the top 10 coaches in the country.
April 12, 200719 yr IMO, Bill Self is nowhwere near the top 10 coaches in the country. Until Self gets to a final four I have to disagree.
April 12, 200719 yr Until Self gets to a final four I have to disagree. So you think when he does get to the final four, he won't be as good of a coach anymore?
