LRCW Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Congrats to the Cards on getting a great player. I sure hope this doesn't mean gold sunrise will be switching teams on us. :D Senior combo guard Preston Knowles from Winchester, Ky. visited Louisville this weekend in hopes of impressing the Cardinal coaches enough to gain an offer. After time spent with UofL coach Rick Pitino this weekend, consider it mission accomplished. "It couldn't have gone any better on both ends," Preston's high school coach Scott Humphrey said Monday. "He was just so impressed with everything about it. He played well, got to spend time with the players and he liked everything about it." The question around recruiting circles was whether Knowles would get an offer from the Cards. He already had offers from Virginia Commonwealth, Miami of Ohio and others, but Louisville would be his first major offer. "They offered," Humphrey said. "He'll go ahead and commit sometime this week, and Signing Day is Wednesday." That means Louisville's two-person recruiting class for the class of 2007, just got one bigger. Which leaves many Cardinal fans wondering, who is this guy and where did he come Preston Knowles.
HammerTime Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Good for him. :thumb:Did ANYONE see this coming?
crimedoc Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Great job preston. Now go and be a great college player.
RockPride Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Preston is a great pickup...there have been opposing coaches that say he is unguardable when he is on...that's great for Louisville, and he will certainly have time to get himself acclimated to big time D-1 basketball...
HOMELESS CAMEL Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 The 10th region is putting out some talent in recent years. Congrats to Preston and it will be fun to watch him in Rick's system.
Log Mountain Boy Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Congratulations to Knowles. Here is what I wrote on the high school thread about Knowles earlier today. Knowles has great potential. I will be honest with you. In the 5 or 6 times I have seen Knowles play I have never seen him play that well. Dont get me wrong, Ive seen where he has had great games, like against Mason Co, which is probably the best example. But 1 thing that has always been obvious in watching him is he has great potential!
98NCCalum Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 VCU had to miss out on him, I'm glad it's with Louisville. I know VCU (the future Gonzaga) put a lot of man hours on him, but glad he got an offer he wanted.
TWOONE Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Good for Preston and for Louisville. The biggest question with im though will be his attitude. I heard some very disturbing stories about some of his actionns during games and on team trips. Hopefully he becomes a great player for UL.
cvillecat Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 It is always great to see a KY player move on to the next level. I wish him the best.

BigColonel Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 He's impressed me the few times I have seen him. I think he could be another Larry O'Bannon at UL. Maybe a slow start while he cathes up to the gunners that RP usually recruits, but by his SR season, a reliable goto guy. Best of luck to the young man.
SkipToMyLou Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I'm glad to see that talented Ky players are playing for Ky teams. Congratulations to Mr. Knowles and goodluck at the next level.
