No way gas can be justified for being this high! Has oil prices went back up?

There's a couple of reasons for it. First, oil is up because of high tensions in the Mideast, especially after the capture of the British troops by Iran. Second, there have been several significant refinery problems lately, the biggest one being the February Valero refinery explosion in Texas. This was a major delivery point for light, sweet crude.

Two more years then I believe something will be done about it

The price of oil has dropped the last two days so then why has the price of gas raised so much in those two days.

 

In those two days there has been nothing reported about new significant refinery problems plus the troops have been set free.

Oil has dropped over the last two days because of the release of the soldiers. Don't expect the price to change at the pump right away. Also keep in mind that the refineries are preparing to change to their summer formulations. They're already operating at close to capacity.

Diesel is even cheaper than unleaded in Louisville right now...:mad:

I think it had to do with the fallout of UK not being able to get Billy Donovan...

I say the mafia needs to take out the CEO'S of all of the oil companies and leave the message lower the price or we will strike again.

Unbelievable. Call it what it is (has been for three years) PRICE GOUGING. It's a holiday weekend, jack up the prices, been going on for several years.

 

HIGH TENSIONS in the mideast is a cause? :laugh: Yeah, that's a good one. Someone in the mideast has been in a war for most of the last 1,000 years. I think high tensions is the norm there, never affected oil prices much before.

 

Funny thing about all these refinery problems, I never remember any affecting oil prices in the least until sometime after 2000. I guess they all worked fine and have now just gone wacky in the last few years, because a refinery problem NEVER affect prices by a dime before, much less 30 cents overnight.

Why shouldn't we expect it to change at the pump right away, it goes up right away whenever someone invents a "problem"?

 

I know, I know, it'll go down soon, like after Easter weekend (also the end of spring break travel season). It'll stay lower until about mid-May, and imagine the problems those refineries will have just before Memorial Day. :banana:

 

It went way down just before the mid-term elections (no coincidence there I'm sure) in a half baked attempt to divert the public's interest from making it an issue in the election. Didn't work out so well. I know this is the wrong forum for a debate, my bad, and I'll leave it at that.

 

Except to say I'm amazed the American public has allowed this to go on for so long without more pressure put on Washington.

People need to stay home this weekend and find something else to do but they won't they will travel and the oil people will laugh all they way to the bank.

There are other factors as HHSDad has mentioned. Get used to it though, I've been hearing it could go as high as 5 bucks a gallon at some point.

IT's already $4.00 a gallon in California.
