April 17, 200719 yr Gas is higher because Bush promised his oil buddies a lot of money in his last two years in office and he knows this is a great way to do it.
April 19, 200719 yr I'm thinking about getting one of those Top Fuel dragsters. I just saw that they get 30 YARDS to the gallon.
May 3, 200719 yr Author $3.09 in Maysville today. Highest in history here. $3.09 in NKY; $3.19 in most parts of Cincy. Summer is not even here yet... look for NKY and Cincy to get in the $3.50-3.75 range. This is after Bush rejected another proposal to tax major oil companies who are making BILLION dollars profits. Those tax dollars could be used to find alternative sources, and more drilling. But he said no... heck I would too if my bank account was growing. Bush himself said "we need to conserve, and find alternative methods." But when an option was given to him to do it.. he says no. Yeah... he has no beef in the oil profits ehh? Thay a way W... show those oil companies who's the boss... or wait, which company is your boss?
May 3, 200719 yr Gas was $2.78 in downtown Gatlinburg Wed. morning,, got home and it's $3.09 in Ashland.
May 3, 200719 yr To give you an example of how it is from FLA to KY. Siesta Key beach 2.99 a gal. 1/2 mile down the road in Sarasota 2.71 a gallon. Valdosta GA 2.65 Dalton GA 2.69. Jellico TN area 2.79 Richmond KY 2.78. Florence KY 2.74 The biggest evidence of price guaging was the Siesta KY BP that was 30 cents higher than stations right down the road. At least there is a difference there. When gas prices change in Maysville every single station goes to the same price. And they all are "owned" by different companies. I personally think that is collusion. (sp?)
May 3, 200719 yr How doesn't it... common sense would tell you republicans are for the rich; democrats are for the middle class to poor. ANY time there is conflict in the middle east the oil countries LOVE it. They need excuses to raise the gas prices.. calling it "tension." Everyone knows nothing is going to happen, including them, but they still get away with raising oil prices. Bush has huge ties into oil. He is a Texan as I said. Anyone who owns any kind of oil product or oil stock is making money. If you are making 400+ K a year like Bush (just from base pay) and energy is costing you maybe 6%, you don't care. If you are a middle class person making 25K a year, trying to raise a family and its costing you 6% you are going to feel it more. I am a public school teacher and my tax responsibility is several thousand dollars lower under this Republican President than the previous Democratic President. Also, I found it ironically amusing that the nation so up in arms by the cost of fuel is probably the LEADING country of having vehicles that get about 9 MPG. As long as you see our roadways full of SUV's, 4 wheel trucks that are 12 feet off the ground and such vehicles, we are our own worse problem. Republicans are basically for the wealthy, but Democrats no longer adhere to the middle-class citizens in our country. They focus their campaigns, legislature, and efforts on pleasing the problematic, self-pitying complainers of our society. Anyone who cries they are being treated unfairly, that's who Democrats offer condolences to. The middle-class American, which makes up the majority of our country, is becoming lost in the political agendas of the minority.
May 3, 200719 yr $3.09 in Maysville today. Highest in history here. $2.98 down US 68 in Mayslick. Not much cheaper than Maysville, but I can drive over to there cheaper to get gas then Maysville.
May 3, 200719 yr I said this before, they don't really need a reason to raise prices, they do it because they want to.:madman:
