However, they are also next to last in the NL in runs given up per game 3rd in SLG% 9th in OBP% They are 2nd in "power" which is measured as SLG% - AVG. Which all translates back, to pitching....Here's my best guess, next 2-3 years. Harang, Bailey and possibly Arroyo remain, each being consistent 13-18 game winners and possibly, one can be even better. Getting a 4th starter, who can be 9-10, 10-12 or near .500, is a key. The 5th starter, if they choose to remain in a rotation, needs to be around .500, say 8-11, 9-13 or close. This scenario, would possibly have near 65-70 wins from a starting corps and would need an additional 15-20 wins, from middle relief and closing, to compete. If something close to these numbers, can be obtained, then the Reds will have a competitive chance. Playing in GABP, will help in 7-10 wins per year. Mix in a true leadoff man, with speed. Include a player, who can hit for average and get on base, combined with some new players....it could get interesting.
