Track The Reds...

Great first person article by Josh Hamilton in the latest ESPN the magazine. His $400 of meal money on road trips still goes to Johnny Narron to divy up as he needs it.

Also some interesting in-game comments made to him by an umpire and Michael Barrett. Good stuff.

Did I single out Hamilton as being slow?

JR Slow

Dunn Slow

Ross Slow

Hatteburg Slow

E-5 Avg foot speed

Gonzalez below avg foot speed

BP above avg speed

Hamilton slighlty above avg speed

I just like watching teams that can run.

No but it's not like any of those other guys are going to be replaced by Freel or Hopper, unless you play Freel at 2nd or 3rd. Or are you saying you'd like an OF of Freel, Griffey, Hamilton? Dunn, Freel, Hamilton? I just don't see how you can not single out Hamilton with your statement, and reasonably expect to get Freel or Hopper in there.

33 and 52 would indicate a different formula might be considered. Its not 100% pitching.

This lineup is a different formula. Narron rarely ever used Hamilton in the leadoff spot. It was Freel up until the end of May, and we saw how that worked out. Hopper leading off was not a success either. So this Hamilton "formula" just may be the answer.

Your assessment of Hamilton's speed would be the only one I disagree with. He's pretty fast.

The answer for what? Getting to .400?

Not 100% pitching but I'd say 90% pitching. Wipe out the 8th inning debacles and the Redlegs are probably closer to 40 and 45. Not great but obviously better.

OK I can go with pretty fast. Still an overall slow squad. Like I said earlier, 2 times the Reds have guys go from 1st to home on a double. I love that play

70% pitching

10% slow team

20% Narron. Remember some of his moves ( or non moves) attributed to the pitching woes

What in the heck are you eating that is 400 dollars??? :scared:

Yep, cannot hear enough about Hobbs is handling everything so far, not to mention all the success on the field.

Who needs speed when you just have to jog around the bases?

Reds lead the league in homers and losses.
