I must be naive then because I completely disagree....I guess if racism is so rampant in Ky, it wouldn't be limited to just Lexington now would it...I would find it hard to believe that it's rampant in one place and 70-80 miles down the road, it amazingly disappears..Give me a break, Uk hater..

Read ALL posts concerning the issue before you post and make a fool of yourself... #2. No one said it was "rampant." The statement was made that it was "alive" in KENTUCKY, which it is...No one singled out Lexington except YOU. #3. There is racism in Louisville, too...Once again, nobody singled Lexington out other than yourself...

I would have to sadly agree with this because I have seen and heard things that was said. I put them in place soon. Tiger Woods sometimes get's the "Golden Boy" treatment on TV in turn people don't like that or him because of it. NOW, on the other side of things remember that street goes both ways and I have myself been subject to it from others. I have friends that I hang out with and go to games with and somethimes that not accepted either. Racism happens but it just doesn't happen from one group it happens from everyside. I have no RESPECT for anyone that has this kind of thinking.
March 31, 200719 yr Everyone should be judged by the job they do..not by the color of their skin..sadly that is STILL not the case in this world. In a perfect world we are all color blind..this is not a perfect world.
March 31, 200719 yr I can only speak for myself but I could care less what skin color the coach is, it is how their teams perform that I am concerned about. There are idiots out there that would never be fair to Tubby because of his color but they are a small percentage of the fans in my opinion. Bottom line is that of all the modern coaches at UK, Tubby Smith is the least succesful other than Eddie Sutton and that can be backed up stat for stat.

Do you think he thought he wouldn't be criticized for being African-American? Does anyone besides the media give a hootenanny? I don't think Tubby did. He was happy for those three seasons he was doing a decent job, and judging from the call in shows and message boards, a lot more UK fans were happy as well. That's just a very low, non-important, non issue, and a terrible excuse in my opinion when people throw up the racial issue. My mother is half African-American, I'm 1/4 African American and I have a lot of African-American friends, and none of us have ever used racism as an excuse for Tubby. Everyone knows there's racism in the world and I think the media does more than their share to make sure it stays that way.

So Rick Bozich is just making up the racist stuff he would receive about Tubby Smith? Or What about former columnist Jerry Brewer's articles on the same?
March 31, 200719 yr So does that make it ok? Of course it doesn't make it ok. Did I say it made it ok? I think people automatically guess that since it is Kentucky the element of racism is a bigger issue. Do I think racism played a role with a percentage of haters, of course. But on the other side I haven't seen any articles calling out Arkansas fans for being racist. Wasn't their coach black and successful? Bottom line is racism exsists everywhere. It is no bigger an issue here in good ole Kentucky then any where else. If anyone thinks any different then they are the ones in denial.
March 31, 200719 yr It seems like the race issue is being played like a trump card. It is ok to use it when it seems necessary. I don't think it was played when Tubby won the National Championship. I like Tubby Smith and always will. I just think the program hit a wall and was going no where. It doesn't have to do with race. It has to do with winning in the post season and Tubby wasn't getting it done.

If you believe that there aren't different levels of racism in different parts of the state and different parts of the country you are indeed "naive".
