He has left UK in shambles. Look at the remaining roster and it wasn't the fan's fault. The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of Tubby Smith. He did more damage to UK basketball than imaginable and took and extra $1,500,000 on his way out the door. Apparently his representitives have been negotiating with Minnesota since the middle of February. I believe at the time he was still pretending to coach the UK basketball team. Then just a week ago he stated infactically that he planned to return next year. One last misleading comment for the road. Kind of like "we are going to play more up tempo", or "there will be major changes". What a great guy.

 

For all of you that supported him and continue to support him remember he quit you. He negotiated behind your back and left your program with a roster full of mid major players. 1 senior, no juniors, solid sophmores, and an incoming class of a 7' project, and a 3* forward.

He left because of fans like you. You have done nothing but whine and cry on here about how UK needs to get rid of Tubby then when Tubby leaves you have the nerve to come on here and dog him for leaving. I figured you would be dancing in the street. What a class act.

Here is something I haven't seen said on here before. I have seen where the Tbers have talked alot how Tubby has the longest drought for us ever without going to the final four. However while looking at the banners in Rupp today, I saw there were a couple of time periods where we didn't make it for 9 years. So for Tubby to have the record for longest drought, that would mean he would have had to pass another coach who had the old record, and well I may be wrong here, but wasn't Adolf Rupp one of the guys who had the old record for longest drought in the final four? So you wanted Tubby gone, now he's gone and your crying about how he left. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize you can't have it both ways.

Did anyone else happen to see the sign off of Nicholasville Road yesterday? It was a pretty good salute to Tubby.

His departure was good for both sides, the short term for us is going to be rough but it would have been rough with him here also. Time to move on, he's happy, most UK fans are happy, the fun has just begun.

I think the pressure just got to Tubby. The pressure of always being expected to win. The pressure of being expected to bring in the best players. The pressure to bring home another national title. I think either the pressure got to him or he just realized he wasn't the right fit for UK. Im not a Tubby basher. I support who ever the coach is. But how Tubby left this program.......well theres just no excuse for it. I think he seen a team full of his recruits leaving year after year. Kids not developing into the athletes they should be. He just left the program. Well I say don't let the door hit you on the way out Tubby.

I know Tubby will be upset because folk in the state are mad. It worries him so much he is smiling cashing that 1.5 million dollar bonus.

This is why the guy had to leave......You can be the greatest coach in the world but if you can't recruit and analyse talent better than he has done the past 4 or 5 years this is the mess you'll have. For UK to have the players they have on this team is a JOKE!!!!! This is THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY not NKU................I'm so glad twelve loss Tubby is gone.....GO WILDCATS!!!!!!!
