Tubby needs to take responsibility!

Featured Replies

Tubby is a great guy and didn't deserve to be treated the way he was here. I don't blame him one bit for bolting like he did. I wish him the best!

:thumb: :thumb: I agree and this U.K. program is far from being in shambles. It was unbelievable and cruel what the man and his family had put up with the least few years here. Program in shambles..............  That is a joke, try Eddie Sutton and Hal Mumme if someone wants the definition of leaving a U.K. program in shambles, but I guess in all of the bashers eyes Tubby was worse, which proves what they know......very little...........absolute Joke!.

Here is one thing that I would like to call attention to. Tubby is gone to the delight of many and there are still Tubby bashing threads on here. :sssh: :sssh:

This is my last Tubby post untill maybe I post on his games at Minnesota. I just can't get over that now that he is gone the bashing threads continue, but in another way I can cetainly belive it considering all of the previous threads on this.

Look at the bright side. There was no reason for any excitement about UK basketball. Nothing to discuss except the dwindling of prospects for decent recruits. But now all of you UK fans have plenty to talk about. What Smith could not accomplish on the playing floor, he accomplished by quitting and taking his money with him.

Here is something I haven't seen said on here before. I have seen where the Tbers have talked alot how Tubby has the longest drought for us ever without going to the final four. However while looking at the banners in Rupp today, I saw there were a couple of time periods where we didn't make it for 9 years. So for Tubby to have the record for longest drought, that would mean he would have had to pass another coach who had the old record, and well I may be wrong here, but wasn't Adolf Rupp one of the guys who had the old record for longest drought in the final four? Yet he is a guy who was a GREAT coach here at UK. Yet Tubby got all kinds of critiscm for now having the longest drought, but no one talked about who had the record before, and they dont think he is bad...:sssh:

No.

Say what you want about Tubby. Hes been a great representative for the University of Kentucky. Hes a very good person. Everyone you talk to behind the scenes say the same thing. I will pull for Tubby at Minnesota.

Hes a class act and if he only landed a couple more prospects then we would IMO atleast been playing this weekend this year.

Seems like he could take a little abuse for $2.5 million per year...

The way the fans treated him should not be what ran him off. He left, because he knew, and everyone else knew it was time for a change.

Adolph Rupp won a lot of NIT championships when it, instead of the NCAA was the big tournament. Nobody talks about that. Also, we were on probation for two years during one of our longest stretches. Tubby came so close in 05 to making it to the final four. Seems to me that he quit after that. I'm not going to bash Tubby cause he had some good years here at UK, but I'm not going to sit here and call him the greatest coach we ever had, when clearly he had some of the worst years here in UK history.

He left because of fans like you. You have done nothing but whine and cry on here about how UK needs to get rid of Tubby then when Tubby leaves you have the nerve to come on here and dog him for leaving. I figured you would be dancing in the street. What a class act.

I wish I did have something to do with it but I don't think I'm that influential. My point is that fans like yourself continue to put this guy on a pedestal and all he did was ruin your basketball program, negotiate for another job while his current team floundered, and rob the bank on the way out the door. Yet somehow or another he is a great guy. Now there is a class act.

   Anyone else remember watching Charlie Brown, when the teacher talked to the class.....this reminds me of that. Now I know how those poor kids felt.

I'm sure this isn't the first time you have felt like Charlie Brown.

A better analogy would be this is how anyone who has listened to Orlando speak in public felt.

Questioning Tubby's class is probably the most ignorant thing I've ever read on this board. What a joke.

Well here you go. He claims he didn't know the negotiations were going on. How about if I question his honesty?

He has been given a free pass for his dishonesty. I'm glad he lied because it means he is gone but it doesn't change the fact that he was dishonest a week ago.

How so? He said he didn't know his agent was in contact with Minnesota.....How is that lying?

Best post on this thread.

RickyP, you need to just get over it. Tubby is gone now and you are still blinded by your hatred for him.

So Tubby's agent knew six weeks ago, without talking to Tubby at all, that Tubby was interested in the job?

I've never questioned Tubby's honesty, but this is fishy.

Tuesday its not a thought in his mind, and Wednesday he's leaving the winningest program in college basketball, taking a pay cut, and moving to a school with no history whatsoever?
