Totally different situation. Petrino was the toast of the town while Tubby was just toast.

 

It didn't matter what Tubby did it was never going to be good enough.

You are still confusing me. You did not like Tubby and dreamed of the day he left. Why do care as long as he is gone?

Given the situation and the uncertainty that hung over his head, I don't blame him one bit for listening to offers from other schools. Tubby is about as loyal a person as you will ever find. At some point, though, you have to understand that he had to think of his future and his family. He had no idea if he would have a job at UK after the season ended.

 

If you were operating under similar circumstances on your job, with the cloud of uncertainty hanging overhead, I cannot believe you would turn a deaf ear to other job offers. Or would you wait until the day after your employment ended to START looking at other possibilities?

Never said it was on purpose. Heck, I don't think he is that smart. It would have taken a truly diabolical mind to have done the amount of damage he did on purpose.

Not a UL fan, could not have care less. And in ANY job, if you receive other interest, you have to consider it, ...especially if you are not happy where you are.

Ricky P. - Here is a news flash for you. The game of basketball was played before Pitino was coaching anywhere and played pretty darn well. Pitino did not, contrary to your and some others belief invent the game. U.K.'s basketball legacy and tradition was well established before the fabulous R. Pitino came to U.K., did a great job, lied to everyone to feed his own overblown ego and left!

 

I said earlier that I wasn't going to post anymore on this ridiculous thread but the more I read the more irritated I became:irked: . I wil support the new U.K. coach as well as I have every other U.K. coach.....that is what true U.K. "Fans" do.

 

Still is unbelievable that even after Tubby leaves (which is what all the bashers wanted) threads are still started in bashig him. :rolleyes:

 

In closing, Pitino is gone and not coming back (I for one am glad) Get over it, Tubby is gone (which should make the bashers happy) and probably much happier that he doesn't have to put up with senseless bashing crap from people who have no clue. If you have a job that you aren't happy with, do you go out and look for a new one while still employed or do you wait until you have officially left the company?

 

I wouldn't have felt any different about Petrino, I didn't like him, but my dislike would not have "grown" because he started talking to another school while on the job. It happens all the time....Tubby is gone, please find something else to whine about.

When you're hunting for another job, do you tell your employer that you don't expect to be their next week? I know I sure don't.

Tubby Smith is gone, yet fans keep talking about him...Just let it be and hope UK gets a good coach to turn it around...Its done and over...You guys wanted him gone, so hes gone...Tubby has taken responsibility but right now hes at minnesota...let the A.D. take care of it since he likes to try to play hero and save the day

IMO, The only reason the Tbashers are upset is that UK did not get a chance to fire Tubby. Tubby went out on his own terms and this upsets them. Tubby is gone it is time to move on. I have never in my life seen so much hatred toward a basketball coach who did what you wanted him to do leave. The problem is he didn't leave on your terms and he is laughing all the way to MN. I love it that Tubby got the last word. :banana:

The sad thing is Tubby has been gone for several days now and yet people still feel the need to blame him for crap. It looks like to me the next coach we hire will have a free pass for a year considering several people are already leaning toward blaming next year on Tubby. The guys gone, get over it.

 

There are people on this site that are in the hospital and dealing with trauma and only a hand full of people take the time to wish them the best. RP just had a baby and only a handful will say congrats but people will argue til thier blue in the face about OTS and what he did or didin't do. Some people never cease to amaze me.:irked:

I guess the bashers are just waiting for a name to be put in place of Tubby for bashing (Billy bashers, Wright bashers, etc.. ) You get the idea, only the name will change and the bashing will go on forever. :thumb:
