Tubby needs to take responsibility!

Featured Replies

Tubby did what you and many others wanted. He left. Now that he did, you guys are complaining about the fallout.

Morris directly stated that Tubby leaving played a big role in him leaving. The Crawford situation is pure speculation with 0 truth behind it at this point.

And I'm running for President of the U.S...

I have no reason to not believe him. What does he gain by saying that if it were not true?

Hey, I'm not a "Tubby Basher" and not in agreement with some of the things "Ricky P" posts. However, on the subject of Tubby and his departure, I must say Ricky P, you are "right on", my man. I agree with most of what Ricky P posted.

I don't think many of the Big Blue faithful at Rupp will miss the infamous "Tubby Glare", which was his best coaching tool, but a move which has clearly lost its power. Tubby was treated like Royalty during his tenure at UK. He did his job for awhile, but we're not paying him close to two million bucks a year to donate to charities and help kids in need. He knew the expectations when he took the job and the contract extensions, and he knew he was not getting the job done. He knew his job performance would get worse. That is why he left.

First off bud you don't know what I think or how I feel about Tubby. I'm not blindly loyal to Tubby because he was the coach at UK. Tubby is a good coach and ran a very solid and honest program. But he made mistakes and he isn't above being questioned. He is make a whole bunch of money to win and that just wasn't happened in the past few years. Tubby has only hisself to blame for that. He is ultimately responsible for recruiting and results. He was asked to make changes to his staff and choose to leave instead. Fine by me don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out. UK basketball is bigger then any one coach or recruit. UK will be ok. At the same time for you, who was one of Tubby's biggest haters, to suggest him in the wrong in any way for leaving is comical. Your stance on this subject is sad and this thread is sad. You got what you wanted but know you have nothing to cry about. That is just pathetic.

Woodsider, I'm sorry I lumped you in. Once again I am happy he left but lets dropped the "Tubby is a class act", "Tubby is a great guy" crap. When it came right down to it he is just like Saban, Pitino, or any of these other guys who look you in the eye and lie to your face. Listen, that really doesn't bother me but it sure puts things in perspective.

I don't blame him for leaving but his people were negotiating with Minnesota since the middle of February. If that is the case then how could he look at every last Sunday and say he planned to be back at UK this season. I know there is a story on ESPN.com where he said the negotiations were done without his knowledge. I think that is a load of bull. He exit has been planned for weeks. FWIW, I think Minnesota still had a coach when Tubby's people started talking about the job.

Don Monson resigned / was fired from Minnesota on November 30th.

Adolph Rupp won a lot of NIT championships when it, instead of the NCAA was the big tournament. Nobody talks about that. Also, we were on probation for two years during one of our longest stretches. Tubby came so close in 05 to making it to the final four. Seems to me that he quit after that. I'm not going to bash Tubby cause he had some good years here at UK, but I'm not going to sit here and call him the greatest coach we ever had, when clearly he had some of the worst years here in UK history.

Rupp won only one NIT crown 1945.

IMO, The only reason the Tbashers are upset is that UK did not get a chance to fire Tubby. Tubby went out on his own terms and this upsets them. Tubby is gone it is time to move on. I have never in my life seen so much hatred toward a basketball coach who did what you wanted him to do leave. The problem is he didn't leave on your terms and he is laughing all the way to MN. I love it that Tubby got the last word.

By saying this, it makes him seem like the good guy who was chased out by Tubby's departure. If he says I was leaving regardless, then everyone labels him as a self-centered player that cares nothing about UK. Morris' only goal has always been to make some money in the NBA - he did not care about the coach, the fans, or the school - and most nights, he didn't even care about playing.

If he did leave because of Tubby's departure I dont think its because of loyalty. He probably realized that any new coach coming in would not put up with his lack of effort and un-inspiring play, especially not the potential coaches talked about.

IMO-- it was more like realizing the honeymoon is over.

But I still think he takes the cash no matter who is the coach.

RiverRat, great location. That says it all.

The same Vandy who is the correct walk call away from an Elite 8 appearance and possibly a Final 4. It is not like they lost to chopped liver.

The sad thing is Tubby has been gone for several days now and yet people still feel the need to blame him for crap. It looks like to me the next coach we hire will have a free pass for a year considering several people are already leaning toward blaming next year on Tubby. The guys gone, get over it.

There are people on this site that are in the hospital and dealing with trauma and only a hand full of people take the time to wish them the best. RP just had a baby and only a handful will say congrats but people will argue til thier blue in the face about OTS and what he did or didin't do. Some people never cease to amaze me.:irked:

Get over yourselves and move on with it.

Knowing UK fans, it will be much longer.

My dad STILL LAMENTS on the NCAA taking a championship away from UK in the mid-50's when they wouldn't let Lou T. play because he was a graduate student. That has been 50 years and I hear it on average once a month.

I love how all of you guys stick up for Tubby and not the program.......cracks me up. You would think you would be loyal to UK and not twelve loss Tubby.

You know, 30-win Tubby would be accurate too. He lost 12 games twice in 10 years. He won 30 games twice in 10 years.

And Tubby should take responsibility for the 30 game wins.:D
