I think Billy Donovan will be UK's next coach...unless Mitch Barnhardt wants someone else.

He would be a fool to come. The fans would love him till he had a couple of not so great years and it would be just like Tubby.

And I think he would be a fool to pass up this opportunity...

The problem with Billy D. is that if he was at UK, he probably wouldn't have been given a chance to win the National title last year. After 5 years of 1st and 2nd round losses in the NCAA tourney, he would have probably been ran out by the fans before last season began.

Excellent point. I can remember that not so long ago, UK fans wouldn't have wanted Billy if he promised to do it for free.

As recently as my thread picking Florida to win the SEC last year. I was told I was crazy because Billy D was an awful coach. Funny how time changes perspective...

Dont compare the first 5-6 years of Tubby and Donovan. They started out on two different pages.

 

Tubby was given a loaded cadillac with all the extras and the instructions to just keep driving down the highway and dont drive in the ditch.

I am not. Before LAST SEASON in the previous 5 seasons, Billy D had 2 first round exits and three 2nd round exits. With the UK fans, they would have been ALL OVER HIM for not making the Sweet 16 from 2001-2005. He might not have even BEEN the coach for last year's run to the title if this would have happened at UK.

 

They would have been all over him for the five years that he couldn't make it out of the 2nd round. BTW, Tubby was going to the Elite 8 twice during that timespan.

Those early round exits showed Bill D. it was not all about offense.

So what did he do he adapted and hired someone to help him with defense and things have taken off from there.
