But, while I hate to see him go, I understand why he left and don't blame him at all. I just hate that we lost a good man. I certainly believe in my heart that Tubby deserves better than the treatment he has received from many fans in Kentucky and hope he finds more realistic support where he is going. In the words of my father when he heard the news today "Well, the Redneck Yacht Club got what they wanted and that is sad." I will still cheer for UK, always have, always will in every sport, but I have a very heavy heart today. I was not this upset when Pitino walked away as I always knew he would. We have already seen several classless posts, and can expect to see more. I will not be around to read them. It makes me sick. Good luck Orlando 'Tubby' Smith! Thanks for the national title, the SEC titles, the SEC tourney titles, and for the class you brought to the UK program. You emersed yourself in the community and did the right thing. You have been an honest and ethical man in a business ruled by those who far too often, don't share the same ethics. NEVER a hint of impropriety in your tenure. March 22, 200719 yr I dont know man, UK might be dropping down to Div III next year, Tubby was the glue that held it together, you saw how bad UK was before he got here:lol: They'll be lucky to have a starting five next year after everyone on the roster leaves and we don't sign any new players (apparently our new coach can't recruit, even though we don't know who he is yet...of course, that's one thing he'll have in common with Tubby )... Seriously, this isn't setting UK back at all, IMO. This will reverse the downward trend the program has been in recently.
March 22, 200719 yr Regardless, let's not bash Tubby anymore, come on guys! I will never bash him, great coach, below avg recruiter, good luck to him, but you dont go anywhere looking back so I'm not gonna sweat this UK bball made it just fine before him and we will make after he's gone.

My sources in WV, said as long as Tubby was here, Patterson was coming. If he wasn't, it would probably be UF. The had no information on Lucas.
