Mississippi St. 84 UK 82 (OT)

Tough one to swallow, questionable call on Thomas and the lane violation. Meeks and Morris both played great. 29 and 15 from Morris was nice to see. Just didn't get the breaks we needed at the end. Hopefully all of the bad breaks UK got this season will pay back in the NCAA tourney and maybe they can make a big run. I am hoping for a 7 seed.

That's terrible officiating and hats off to Tubby for not blaming officials and players.

I'm not asking for Championships. I am asking for at least a Final Four appearance. Since 1942 Kentucky HAS NEVER gone this long between Final Four appearances. The two previous droughts have been no more than 8 seasons.

I'm sorry someone who cannot recruit at arguably the the Greatest College Program at all Time, cannot motivate kids to try at the arguably the Greatest Program of All Time, has had three teams now who seasons are riddled with selfishness and uncaring attitudes (Team Turmoil, last year, and this year), has promised "it won't happen again" threee different times now, I AM thinking about whats best for the program. And what's best for the program IS NOT Tubby Smith who has tarnished the legacy of Kentucky Basketball. We have gone from elite to ordinary in the last 10 years. It's a shame. :fight:

He's not the BEST recruiter, but he's pretty good. What about Meeks? What about 3 McDonald's All Americans three years ago? What about Tubby being the only reason Patterson and Lucas are considering?

Everyone is quick to jump on the fire Tubby bandwagon. But no one says what they should do after that? What should UK do if they fire Tubby???

But it was called by the ref off the ball. Tough pill to swallow but it was stupid either way...

I can agree with this, I think that it (the call) was "cheap" but it was stupid.

That is what happened. I rewound and he definitely said my time.

Then he blew it.:thumb:

What about his inability to get anyone of elite caliber at the 4 spot? He's wildly inconsistent in his recruiting. Thats the problem.

The senior class is atrocious. Perry/Thomas are not UK class starters. They could be great role players, but they're having to shoulder too much.

The sophomore class is (was?) a joke. Carter may yet be a good pickup, but he's the only one thats even still on the team!

Did anybody find it irratating that Crawford was doing his best Bradley impersonation. Dish the ball to Morris every once in a while late in the game.

Oh Hum...hey...after Sunday nite this will be all forgotten. And by Thursday or Friday I know you will be thinking differently. I'm happy to see the Cats, Cards, Hoosiers, playing in the tourney. One game at a time.

The ref should have got the ball back from Meeks and allow Thomas to either get on the line or get out. I have seen this happen several times and it has never been called a violation. The rule states that he cannot move after the shooter has the ball in his hands, so Thomas should have been allowed to reset.

.

Agreed. You cannot call it a violation on the player if he left the lane legally simply because he's not past the arc. Get the ball back. Get everyone set. Resume.

No....even the radio guys (and they are 100% Kentucky) said the violation was valid.

Depending on radio/TV guys to know the rules is risky at best.

Naw, actually we have gone from elite to excellent to good in the past 10 years. Ordinary comes next!

The head of SEC officials stated that the ball has to be in the shooter's hands for it to be a violation...............and it clearly was not. I find it hard to fathom that the officials did not get together and get the call right.

This team can simply be called the Chokeables.

My theme song after watching this team is "Comfortably Numb".

I feel like Im watching reruns of UK football endings.

This team's IQ is befuddling.

Bobby Perry a good free throw shooter, passes to the worst one on the floor, Randolph Morris.

They allow Jamont Gordon to drive up court on the left side, without any impedement.

Morris in the paint guarding the basket on the shot.

Lane violation. Are you serious. Jodie Meeks is a 125% FT shooter, and you get a lane violation?

Plenty of blame to go around there. Tubby for waving him off. All he has to do is stand there or should have been instructed after the first make.

Sheray for at lesat not having any awareness to notify official.

The official for not being in the lane getting things set.

I have officated, and if I'm the one inbounding the ball to shooter, I step in and say, "two shots, relax on the first". On second one I step in and say, one shot play it off the rim or from the release" The official was under the basket. Gave little or no instruction during a key point. In my opinion they should have reset it, because what would have been the call if Sheray kept going down court? They would have reset it because he left before the ball was in the shooters hands. I think even a MSU player moved in as well, thinking there was a timeout.

Besides the point, they had chances but snapped defeat from the jaws of victory.

Frustrating....

I think UK is now a 10 seed.

While it was a messed-up deal to begin with, it clearly was a lane violation under the rules. While it is true that the ball was not in the shooter's hand when Thomas left the lane, it was in his hand while Thomas was out on the floor, but still below the free throw line extended. No one can be below the foul line other than those lining up in the lanes. Now.....if Thomas had kept going down the floor and not tried to go back to the lane, maybe the refs would have let him go. (Maybe not, but we'll never know). On the other hand, the ref should have been decent, stopped play, said he made a mistake, and let the shooter take the free throw. I think he CAN do that in those type situations, but is not obligated to do so.

This is what is so frustrating to me...............and I'm not sure who to blame.
