That is crap. Shock? Doubt it was shock, anger at how they finished. Far from shocked, in my opinion.

Good game tonight. I am very suprised that Jefferson didnt start. To be honest I think Holmes plays a lot better when he doesnt play much

The first CovCath/Holmes game I have seen in a few years.

Hopefully the Eagles and Mustangs matchup will be as good as this one was tomorrow.

Holmes was able to keep CovCath at bay for a while, but Cov Cath's ability to get to the free throw line in the second half was huge. Looking at the stat sheet, Cov Cath shot 19 FT's to Holmes's 7 in the second half. Cov Cath didnt hit a high clip, but got the clock stopped and was able to chip away at the lead.

Not fauulting the officials too much, but Jon Campbell (Scott grad, thank you very much) had no help. 19-7 is a pretty fair descrepency when one team is fairly perimiter oriented and the other is not. Matter of fact, according to the stats, Rice took 23 shots and went to the line one time.

The two other big guys were terribly inconsistent in the second half. I believe there were 4 charge calls over the last 10 minutes and all went Cov Caths way including the one on Hill which I can buy, but to turn around and blow the one on Maile was almost comical.

Austin Hill didn't play very well, but I didn't think Holmes moved the ball as well in the second half as they did the first half.

#32 for Holmes played pretty well and was a beast on the boards.

I'm looking forward to attending the next one, next week if there is another rematch.

CCH was safely in the bonus while Holmes never got to it in the second half.

Far from in hand if you ask me, especially in Park Hills.

Wondering what they need to do to beat CCH? I seriously doubt it is a real mental obstacle. They just need to finish.

When is this team that everybody has been saying for 3 years is the best team in the 9th and is by far the most talented going to beat somebody ?

 

CCH I believe has now won 5 out of 6 and 8 out of 10 against this bunch. The CCH radio guys had a great stat tonight, last years district finals were won by CCH 50 to 47. Of that 50 CCH only returned 11 points from that game(Todd Jacobs and Kurt Bovard) the other 39 were made up by 4 graduated seniors( Tierney, Noll, Young, and Landrum) and injured Billy Schult. On the other hand Holmes had all 47 of last years points on the court tonight and still could'nt win. Sooner or later someone has to ask the question as to whether Henley can get the job done, has the off the court distraction just killed these guys or are they just not as good as everyone thought.

Yeah, Henley can't coach. Just a few weeks ago, he took a freshman/JV squad and nearly beat Holy Cross and Cov Cath in successive weeks.

People can talk about talent and what not, but CCH is loaded with players as well. Were they not the preseason #1 team this year?

Henley is an outstanding coach...he has keep the ship afloat in mighty tough waters this year. Essentially, GSK.

Both teams have plenty to point to in order to say they didn't play well. CCH's free throws are a problem. Their inability to keep Holmes off the offensive glass is a problem. Their inability to knock down 3s (after the first two minutes) is a problem.

 

Holmes missed all kinds of makeable shots. Holmes didn't play smartly to end the game. Holmes couldn't stop Michael Grimes from taking the ball to the hole. Holmes couldn't hit outside shots. Their best player was a non-factor (despite a sweeeeeeeeeet pass on a break).

 

So, basically, we're where we were to start tonight. Should these two proceed to the finals, its a tossup.

All these numbers just prove my point, CovCAth has the most talent in Northern Kentucky and they do almost every year. Year in and year out CovCath has far more talent than any other school.

I agree with you, but I'm not sure I'd stop at number seven, the deeper you go, the more likely it is CovCath's advantage continues.

I wanted to give them a chance at arguing, 1-10 it's too obvious.

Holmes win win by double digits next week, if CCH makes it to the finals.

I would not want to be the team that has to beat Holmes 4 times in one year. CCH better hope someone knocks off the Bulldogs in the 1st 2 rounds because they do not want that matchup on Holmes' floor.
