The CCH radio guys had a great stat tonight, last years district finals were won by CCH 50 to 47. Of that 50 CCH only returned 11 points from that game(Todd Jacobs and Kurt Bovard) the other 39 were made up by 4 graduated seniors( Tierney, Noll, Young, and Landrum) and injured Billy Schult. On the other hand Holmes had all 47 of last years points on the court tonight and still could'nt win.

Anyone want to know why Holmes doesn't dominate this region? Tonight Austin Hill, unquestioned best player in the region, scored 4 points.

 

Other then unselfishness, they looked like they had all the pieces tonight. Rice was unstoppable, Edmonson was clearly the most athletic player on the floor, and even Clark (the backup center) was a force on the boards. But they couldn't get the ball to their best player, the one player who could score whenever they wanted or needed to.

Think that jumps out at me is 4 points from Hill on only 8 shots.

Don't want to be the only dissenting vote but if you can beat them 3 times you can beat them 4

 

I agree....you have proven you can beat them so why start to think you can’t. It reminds me of the CCH HHS football playoff game. Everyone thought highlands would have a chip on the shoulder and beat CCH but look how it turned out. Id prefer some one else did the dirty work and knock Holmes out before Cov Cath has to get to them but ill take my chances on a 4th game.

I was at the game and Holmes should of pulled out that win. The problem I see with Holmes is they are so undisciplined. They were up with a minute left and didn't have to shoot. They go right down the court and throw some garbage up...Holmes could of just pulled the ball out and let CovCath foul them. It's a shame with all that talent and they can't get it done.......:confused:

 

Really didn't understand why either. Yes if he makes it, the game is over, but the clock and and the game is in hand, if and again it is a huge if, they just push the ball back and run their "O" then force CovCath to foul them. As I posted in another thread, you just can't firgue out what the Holmes players are thinking... Was he thinking of putting the game out of reach, or was he wanting to be the star of the game?

I knew I heard part of it right and that's the 47, I was doing 4 things at once and thought I heard 50. That makes it even more impressive that the Colonels only had 11 of 66 return !!!!

 

Which game was the real tight one last year ? I guess that was the regular season game down at Holmes ?

Both teams have plenty to point to in order to say they didn't play well. CCH's free throws are a problem. Their inability to keep Holmes off the offensive glass is a problem. Their inability to knock down 3s (after the first two minutes) is a problem.

 

Holmes missed all kinds of makeable shots. Holmes didn't play smartly to end the game. Holmes couldn't stop Michael Grimes from taking the ball to the hole. Holmes couldn't hit outside shots. Their best player was a non-factor (despite a sweeeeeeeeeet pass on a break).

 

So, basically, we're where we were to start tonight. Should these two proceed to the finals, its a tossup.

Great game by Luke Maile. He was going strong to the rim.

 

Secondly, let me back off my comment that Arrez can't play outside of 5 feet. His stroke is very nice and he handled the ball effectively. Should he continue to improve his ballhandling and his shot, he's a POY candidate.

Asked the people around me the same question and they said his knee, but I'm not sure if that it the right answer or not. From what I know he has started his other games since being back?

Naw, Holmes is the team that must wonder, can we, with all the talent that we have, really beat CovCath? You see CovCath already knows that they can beat Holmes, but can you really say that Holmes thinks that they can beat CovCath? Sure you have the better talent, but CovCath still has the better team, and has proven it three times now......You could see the look of shock in the eye's of the Holmes players as CovCath won yet again.

That is crap. Shock? Doubt it was shock, anger at how they finished. Far from shocked, in my opinion.
