February 13, 200719 yr Not saying this will happen by any stretch of the imagination...but let me give you some scenarios, and then I will ask for your opinion as to what the Cards' seed will be iff the hypotheticals were to happen (only one can)... 1 - they win out. Now, I know that sounds crazy but they have Marquette on the road, and then winnable games against St. John's, UConn, and Seton Hall left.....then they go to the Big East tournament, get a bye....win three.... 2 - they lose to Marquette....win the rest of the regular season, and lose in the second round of the Big East 3 - lose out...lose first round of the Big East 4 - lose to Marquette...win the Big East tourney... _______________________________________________________________________ 1 - 3 seed 2 - 5 seed 3 - NIT 4 - 4 seed Interesting...if they do what they can...they can make some noise...hopefully they avoid that nasty 5 seed. 1- lowest 3 seed (or highest 4 seed) 2- 7 seed (If they lose to Marquette and go out in the second round I see 6 seed AT BEST, and most likely 7 seed...) 3-NIT 4- 4 seed-(They gave syracuase a 4 seed after winning the big east so I would think they would do the same for UL...) Personally I think UL makes it as a 9 or 10 seed....
February 13, 200719 yr Wow, the majority is really hating on the Cards? Still mad about Pitino? Its been years now guys, lets work through it. Moving on, there is NO WAY the Cards will lose 3 more games in the regular season. 2 at the most, but I dont even see this happening. Ive taken off my red shaded glasses and am talking on basketball knowledge. If they win out, the 3 seed is extremely possible, if they lost one or two... the 4 or 5 comes into play. Lets just watch it play out and see who was wrong in the end.
February 13, 200719 yr ^ I don't think people are hating on the Cards. I think for a lot of people it is hard to imagine the Cards as a 3 seed after the first half of the season they had. Most of this is probably an inability to believe that the Cards can indeed win out from here through the Big East tourney. FWIW, I think they lose one, maybe two more in the regular season (I think they'll lose to Marquette, and it's possible, but not probable at UConn), and they'll win 1 or 2 in the Big East tourney. I think they enter the Dance as a 22-23 win team with 10 losses. Just eyeballing that record seems like a 5 seed to me.
February 13, 200719 yr RP, what's your rationale on scenario #2? As you know, a 5 seed is a team in the top 20. Most teams in the top 20 have more than one win against a top 50 opponent. Under your scenario, wouldn't Louisville's only win be against Pitt? Their first round game in the Big East would be against St. John's or Seton Hall right? Not exactly resume boosters. They may get in under that scenario but no way are they a 5 seed.

February 13, 200719 yr Great win for UL...as much as I like to rag on them, I did miss them in the tourney last year. Honestly, I can't see UL getting higher than a 4 seed, regardless of what happens from here on out. Well maybe if they run the table AND win the conference tourney, but that is a tall, tall order.

February 13, 200719 yr So what everyone is telling me, if they win the Big East, there is still no chance of a 3 seed? You all are crazy. If Louisville continues to play at the momentum theyve been capable of all year, and the rest of the Big East (minus WVU and Notre Dame) contiunes to slack off, Louisville has a real shot at the conference tourney. This is the part of the year that they pay Pitino the big bucks for.
February 13, 200719 yr One of the talking heads on TV recently said that the seeding committee really gives a lot of weight to how a team has played its last 10 games or so, how the team is trending. If UL (or any similar team for that matter) can put together a good run, then who knows?
