February 13, 200719 yr With George Mason going to the Final Four last year and several MVC teams advancing far, I think the NCAA will pick those teams ahead of the bubble teams from the big conferences. And yes, Duke is on the bubble and in trouble. If they finish with a losing conference record and don't advance to at least the semifinals of the ACC tournament, we'll see how crazy the Cameron Crazies are when they host Virginia Commonwealth in the first round of the NIT. Same with Louisville. They had better advance far in the BET or they will be going to Bradey in the first round of the NIT.
February 13, 200719 yr Author RP, what's your rationale on scenario #2? As you know, a 5 seed is a team in the top 20. Most teams in the top 20 have more than one win against a top 50 opponent. Under your scenario, wouldn't Louisville's only win be against Pitt? Their first round game in the Big East would be against St. John's or Seton Hall right? Not exactly resume boosters. They may get in under that scenario but no way are they a 5 seed. Yeah....I guess you're right.
February 13, 200719 yr Author IF, and its still a big IF, the Cards make the tournament they will be no higher than a #6 seed. I see them being a #7, #8, or #9 seed though as long as they only lose a couple more games. I know two Sig Eps......around here..... Cool avatar.
