With the title yet again coming back to NorthEastern Kentucky, it was another banner year for Region X.

This offseason will be VERY interesting. Always the requisite rumors and moves, and job openings. Here's a few things I look to be of the most interest:

1.) Montgomery County Job: With Coach High not taking the job after filling in, who do the Indians call as a new chief? Does this affect the Sears family and their decision to stay in Mt. Sterling? Does Jason Mays rumored taking of the LCA job cause any MoCo players to get religion?

2.) Mason County Job: Brian Kirk's departure is now official. Who do the Royals look to return to prominence? Jason Hinson? Allen Feldhuas Jr? Keaton Belcher? Jordan Gilbert?

There's a few other news items worth discussing, but those are the big two. Bracken is looking for a new head coach, and if the rumor mill holds true at least one 38th district team will too.

1.) A lot of question marks at MOCO with the hiring of the new chief and future roster, but I do see the Sears kids still being at MOCO.

2.) I don't see any of these guys being interested in the Mason job.  Mason needs talent.

3.) I'm hearing there could be a lot of changes at Campbell County.

Campbell is not one I have heard.

MoCo is going to have a lot of questions even when they hire the new coach. The rumors are out there of who they hiring but nothing set yet. I’d look for Jarvis and Sears to stay at least. 
 

Mason is likely going to need to hire someone not as big of a name or with a bunch of experience. They need someone who will bring the energy and plan to build it up. Nobody big is going to step in with the talent level and expectations right now.

That one player would certainly change a lot.

When it's Austin Davie it's "A LOT" for sure. There may be other things, but he takes a lot with him. 

I too have heard Davie to prep school.  Also heard that he has not been attending Campbell County rather being home schooled.

By homeschool I think you mean he is “virtual” where he is still enrolled at Campbell County but completes classes online.

CC still returns 3 starters and several players that saw considerable minutes if Davie goes the Prep route, that's more than enough to win their district and still be top 3 in the 10th region for 26-27.

Now we see what happens. Parker Stewart named head coach at MoCo. Everything I hear is Jarvis and the two Sears boys are staying. I believe Terry is staying, but his older sister is graduating. Routt did pretty good for a freshman running the point until Sears was eligible. Rowlett could knock down the threes. Young coach, lots of energy!

I hear this is becoming increasingly common with high school athletes in the state. The only time they are around the school is for practice of the sport they play. And it’s legal. That would have sure been nice back in the ‘60’s when I was in school. Kids in the hills of eastern Kentucky in many areas got up well before daylight and waited for busses in frigid weather on many days. It would have been sweet to have been able to lay under the warm covers and then later do school work on line, lol.

Do you truly believe that?

Several NKY schools still offer the virtual school option in addition to the Young Scholars Academy where they can take all their classes at NKU their junior and senior year to earn enough credit hours to graduate high school with an associate’s degree. They are still permitted to play sports.
