Grayson County ?⚪ (26-5, KSR #25)
vs.
Taylor County ?⚫ (26-9)

?️ High scoring Grayson County ran the table within the 3rd Region behind an offense averaging nearly 80 points per game. They defeated region favorite - and state #2 - Daviess County twice, including in the region semifinals. Four Cougars average in double figures: Jack Logsdon (20.5), Brody Armstrong (15.1), Jagger Mardis (14.5), and Spencer Langdon (12.3).

Taylor County doesn't quite have the offensive punch that Grayson does, but the Cardinals get after you on the defensive end. They're allowing just 43 ppg over the last month, including 35 to ranked Caverna during a suffocating run through the 5th Region tournament. When buckets are needed, Taylor turns to the sophomore tandem of Cooper Stone (21 ppg) and Bryce Vernon (14.7 ppg).

Grayson County is seeking to scratch the itch of a state tournament win for the first time since 2009, while Taylor is looking for its first in ten years.

Tip-off: Wednesday, March 18th at 6:00pm

Couple guys on both sides of this one that could have a Jake Ohmer-like tournament. This one goes to overtime.

Taylor has done a great job on the offensive end of controlling tempo which has lead to their low PPG given up numbers.

Key to this game is who throws the first punch. If Taylor can get up early then Stone and company can control entirety of the game. If Grayson takes early lead I think they have ability to run away with it if Taylor feels they have to push the tempo to get back into the game.

Whoever gets up 6 or more first wins this game.

Grayson County comes in to the Sweet 16 playing their best basketball of the season.  The Cougars struggled in the King of the Bluegrass back in December, going 0-3.  Since that time, they are 22-2 with close road losses at Lyon County and Warren Central.  They have 5 guys in the starting lineup that could lead them in scoring any given night.  WKY commit Jack Logsdon leads the way with 20.2 points per game.  Jack also leads the team in rebounding at 6.4 boards per game.  Armstrong and Langdon are also great rebounders for Grayson.  Armstrong, Mardis and Langdon are all averaging double figures scoring and all had their big tournament moments.  Langdon led the team in scoring in the regional title game, Armstrong won our tournament MVP and Mardis hit the big shot that took down Daviess County.  Caden Gaither has settled in to his role nicely, and had some big games down the stretch.  While Grayson County isn't very deep, Chase Baunach is a spark plug off the bench.  He played very well when Armstrong battled foul trouble against Daviess.  Grayson can really shoot the ball.  They are shooting it 50% from the field without a true post player.  All 5 starters can really pass the ball and have done a great job with shot selection late in the season.  If they can continue that shooting at Rupp, they are a dark horse team to make a run.  It would not surprise me to see the Cougars playing on Saturday morning.  Keep in mind, it has been 11 years since the 3rd Region has won a game at Rupp.

I agree with ApolloFan, I will not be surprised to see Grayson playing on Saturday Morning!

Grayson wins this game, but they will not be playing on Saturday morning.

I remember watching the Stone kid at Taylor when he played for Green County a couple of years back at the LC after Christmas Tourney, you could tell he had it, even back then.

This game is up next in less than an hour.

Two different styles.  Give me the Grayson offense over the Taylor defense.
