As much as I hate this we deserved to lose this game we did nothing down the stretch that a good team should do to close out SEC games especially on the road.

Reds opening day can't get here fast enough.

Exactly. These last 3 losses a big man has gone off on UK. UK wins all 3 of these games if Quaintance was playing instead of going Sheadon Sharpe on the team.

Interesting that Jasper Johnson played 2 minutes. Especially considering how bad Chandler was.

Someone give us the scoop on that.

One more thought. The basketball gods are balancing things out. UK has won games they should have lost. Now they are losing games they should have won. 

Ugh, that is all I really have to say about this game. 

They better make sure they beat South Carolina on the road. Or else there is a good chance we have a 7 game losing streak heading into the SEC tournament, and being very much on the bubble for the big dance.

I would rather have a bad Chandler than JJ.

If counting the Covid year where fans weren’t in the stands and players on the bench were spaced out, then yes that is correct. I don’t like ever counting that year as nothing about that year was normal. 

However, ever since things got back to normal it still hasn’t been great. Calipari had a couple of really good teams after that, but then went and got upset in the first round twice. 

Not including the Covid year here is the records the last 5 years including this year.

26-8 third in the SEC (lost in 1st round)

22-12 third in the SEC (lost in 2nd round)

23-10 second in the SEC (lost in 1st round)

Pope
24-12 seventh in the SEC (lost in sweet 16)

17-10 ninth in the SEC currently

We are looking at finishing 7th or lower in the SEC again. Which for reference Calipari only finished worse than 3rd in the SEC two times, once was a 4th place finish and the other the 8th place finish Covid year. Mark Pope did get us out of the first weekend last year, but overall it hasn’t really been good under him.

He's on a really short leash with Pope apparently. 1 turnover or bad shot and he's out. He's not the best defender but he rarely has a chance to get into any rhythm of a game.

This has been my thing. For a premier program, this CANNOT happen. 

Granted, the conference strengths are not the same as they were then, and the structure was different, having two divisions, but UK went 12-4 (2nd in the east/overall) and 8-8 (4th in the east / 7th overall) in BCG's two years at UK. We can cite his off-court stuff as to why he was forced out, but it was performance first and foremost. And I am not trying to turn this into a Pope vs. BCG debate, just that there is something amiss with the program overall, like there were those two seasons. The organizational structure as a whole feels behind. Even last year, I didn't get the sense people felt like UK was back.
