February 11, 200719 yr Bottom line .... if UK shoots 38% from the field and makes a couple more FT's they win this game by 8-10. It didnt happen, why they couldnt shoot on their homecourt is beyond me but they played hard and battled. I like Morris' moves in the low post. He was getting doubled by Fla's two premier big men and that says a lot. Crawford couldnt get on track and Sheray Thomas is not a basketball player, I am sorry. He hustles but he cannot hit an open shot for the life of him. Rumel came up big but missed FT's uncharacteristically. A good showing and I am glad they didnt lay down when down by 16.
February 11, 200719 yr On a side note, class move by Noah after he charged in the first half, when he cussed the UK Cheerleader. Check the tape. Noah fell down and the UK cheerleader extended her arm (pom-pom and all) at Noah's face. She initiated the contact. He reacted. She should have been ejected IMO.
February 11, 200719 yr UK just couldn't get over the hump. Hard to swallow losing to the Gators when they played about as bad as they can... Winning post...Florida played as bad as you will ever see, and UK still found a way to lose...still zero wins over good teams... People saying this is a "good" loss are now officially used to losing...
February 11, 200719 yr What about the other 9-13?? Make 2 out of the uncontested 10 and the rest don't matter....
February 11, 200719 yr Positives: - Meeks is going to be a very good player. - Thomas is a senior. - Rupp Arena was incredible last night. Negatives: - Morris is a selfish player, he doesn't care one bit about Kentucky. What him during the timeouts when he is not in the game. I hope he leaves early, again. - Big time players make big time shots in big time games and UK shot blanks. Concerning the recruitment of Lofton and Brewer. Crawford and Morris were both late committments. If I remember correctly both were very iffy. Given that I don't think you can say UK past on Lofton or Brewer due to Crawford or Morris. I think Tubby and company didn't believe they could play.
February 11, 200719 yr Haven't read this thread but here are my thoughts.... UK DID recruit Brewer... maybe not as hard as Florida but I'm almost 100% sure there was an offer. Florida is VERY good, you can't shoot like that from the 3 or line and expect to win. Sure... Florida didn't play their best game and they had foul trouble... but the encouraging thing is that we still COULD have won. I wouldn't say Tubby outcoached Billly D, but anyone who thinks BD is a better XO's guy is CRAZY!!! Tubby decided to trap the high ball screen and completely took that away. I HATE moral victories more than anything in the world but I can't be too upset over this. Lost by 3 and missed ridiculous amounts of open looks. I open the team builds off this loss and comes ready to play at UT. Tubby came and watched him play. Brewer wanted to come to UK because he grew up close to the state line. Tubby thought he was too small to play in the SEC. Florida took him and last night he hit the big shots to beat the CATS! Karma I suppose:)
February 11, 200719 yr Here's my main point. When you play a legit #1 (and I think we can all agree that's what Florida is) you need a lot to go your way to beat them. Such things include... 1. Foul trouble for their best players. 2. Their best shooter is ice cold. 3. Your D gives them fits. 4. Your crowd is EPIC. 5. You get a shot to send it to OT with their roster in major foul trouble. UK had a ton go their way, and they lost. Like I said. Keep spinning... :thumb: If you not going to beat them when Humphrey is missing open looks, and Noah is frustrated, I dont think you will beat them. That was the worse game I have seen Florida play all year, especially compared to the way they played Ohio State.
February 11, 200719 yr The pendulum has swung... Just a few years back OTS had won 8 straight over Billy D's talented teams.
February 11, 200719 yr Which is why it's been tough for me to stick around for 2 1/2 years...:irked:
February 11, 200719 yr It may have been a good thing the shot by Bradley didn't go in. I don't think I could have listened to much more of Dickie V. He is a great guy but he wears on you after a while. More than once I used the mute button. I have to say that I didn't really notice Dickie V. all that much, the crowd at Rupp was drowning him out a lot of the time. The crowd was awesome!!!:ylsuper:

Why isn't anyone giving UK's D ANY credit...They played thier best game of the season on the D side...
February 11, 200719 yr I don't care how you cut it, a L is a L and a W is a W. Florida got the W,and Kentucky got the L. But the way I look at it, you just can't lose home games to anyone if you want to stay in the race for the SEC Champingship. End of story.
February 11, 200719 yr One teacher: Rick Pitino Two disciples: Billy Donovan and Tubby Smith One disciple transformed a decent program into a championship program. The other transformed a championship program into a decent program. You could not have said it any better. 0-4 vs ranked teams. :thumb: Tubby missed out on best defensive player in SEC Brewer and the best offensive player in the league in Lofton. Major college coach should be able to judge players better than this.
February 11, 200719 yr Florida's the better team. Too many weapons. Neither team played well. Only encouraging thing is that UK shoots 38%, 8% worse than UF, and only loses by 3. I think UK beats UF 1 out of 5 times. No rest in the SEC. UT ought to be fun Tuesday.
