Always refreshing to hear voices of reason. UK won something like 11 or 12 straight, and now Florida has won 5 straight. "Right now Florida is a better team, but UK is still a better program"- Jay Bilas. UK has won more games over the past few years, except for Illinois and maybe Duke. Any other school would like to be a "decent" program like UK.

I think that someone pointed that out Sat night and the TB's don't like to mention that. I believe it was since the 2002 season, UK has won more games than EVERYONE but Duke and Illinois. More than the GREAT BILLY Donovan's Florida team. More than UNC. More than Kansas. More than Arizona. More than alot of good programs and schools.

Interesting stat on John Clay's blog. He said over the game's final 1:58, Ramel Bradley was the only Wildcat to touch the ball in the frontcourt. He has it broken down by possession. That's interesting.

LABS posted that the other day as well... in fairness to Ramel, one shot was a deep 3 pointer that he made, one was a stolen inbound pass that he put up in the corner, and the other was from the last 8 seconds of the game... which I would have rather him take the shot than anyone else.

Florida's junior class continues its UK domination

 

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- As every self-respecting basketball fan knows by now, the history-altering Florida junior class calls itself the Oh-Fours. As in 2004, the year they were recruited to Gainesville.

 

The Kentucky junior class is altering history, too. In the wrong direction. When it comes to beating the Gators, you can almost call them the Oh-Fers.

 

The Wildcats' 64-61 loss to the Gators on Saturday night at raucous Rupp Arena was the fifth straight for Kentucky's juniors against Florida's juniors. They won the first meeting, way back in February 2005, and have been skunked ever since.

 

This was the Wildcats' first five-game losing streak against a Southeastern Conference opponent since Bernard King and Tennessee thumped them five straight from 1975-77. And given the fact that the next meeting is in Gainesville next month, the chances of Kentucky enduring its first six-game SEC losing streak to the same opponent ever appear fairly strong.

 

Three years ago, Tubby Smith thought his recruiting class would point Kentucky back to the top.

 

The two junior classes' fates have become intertwined -- and ultimately divergent. Florida's has captured consecutive SEC tournament championships and an NCAA title, and positioned itself strongly for a repeat, while Kentucky's has done little more than tease its fans and its coach.

Kind of a double edge sword... If he calls a timeout, Donovan has time to set up his defense... And then if they miss, we'd all say "Why did he call that timeout?"

I am a Tubby supporter, but Tubby's plays at end of halfs or end of games after timeouts hardly ever work, and usually we end up having to take a tougher shot than we did saturday. We got back into the game without taking a timeout really, so why not do what was working. Yeah looking at it now since he missed its easy to second guess and say should have taken a timeout, but at the time I think it was the right decision to just let them play...
