Both teams played bad, Florida did not play the game they should of against UK, pound it inside, due to foul trouble, This was UK's game to win and they just could not hit shots or foul shots, Glad to see the gators come away with the win, should be intresting to see this game in march.

As far as Billy D owning Tubby, he does currently have the upper hand, but Tubby is 13-9 against Billy head to head. Prior to the 5 game streak it was 13-4 with Tubby having a 7 game streak of his own. If that equals being owned, I don't see it. It doesn't justify losing 5 in a row, but lets give Tubby a little credit, its not as if Billy is coaching circles around him.

UK went 12-21 from the foul line.

UF went 13-21 from the foul line.

I am sure UF is saying "if we make foul shots then we win by 10 or so..."

Either way you look at it foul shooting was the difference, but played a role for both teams. Just a thought!

That's a good point. The thing that gets me is who we had missing the free throws. The best free throw shooter in the SEC, who missed four I think it was on the night, misses a huge front end and then Horford (59%) goes down and knocks down two with about a minute or so to go.

Very good comment.:thumb:

Better Coach, Better Players won the game. We want to talk about players and coaches. UK has not had a really good player that could take over a game since Tayshun Prince and before him probably Mercer and Walker. UK is missing out on top recruits, why is that? They dont want to play for Tubby!

If, if and buts were candy and nuts it would be Christmas year round. It will never be Christmas year round for the Kentucky faithful until we truly get some players that can take over the game when needed, we simply do not have that right now.

One teacher: Rick Pitino

Two disciples: Billy Donovan and Tubby Smith

One disciple transformed a decent program into a championship program. The other transformed a championship program into a decent program. ;):D

Wow, hit the nail right on the head. I could not agree more with any post on this site.

I dont know if this is a true statement but I dont think that UF is that great of a free throw shooting team in the first place. I dont know the percentages, but I would bet that UK has a better team percentage then UF. But in a game like that you can throw the percentages out the window, they are still kids and feel the pressure. It comes down to WHEN you make them. Scheyer the other night for Duke, missed a few and he had hit like 30 some in a row. Its about having ice water in the vanes!

Very suprised. :fire:

Not me...the Cats played over their heads with effort, and almost came up with a biggie...now they have to get the hangover out immediately.

You realize that Coach Smith has a winning record against Billy D right?

Yeah, but when you've lost the last four, that is tough to hang onto.

Anywhere around the country the crowd is a little more hostile when #1 comes to town. The UK crowd for the other games needs to be better but I don't think they can be like last night every game.

I agree...they just have to stay up more for other games.

I agree, but 3 of those were last year. Arguably one of our worst teams in 30 years or more, and it was Floridas best team in school history. Last year IMHO was an abberation for the cats and they will be back on top of college basketball in the next 2 or 3 years. IMO, Shawn Finney's addition to the staff will bring the TOP recruits back to Kentucky. FWIW, i think UK wins in Gainesville...

I don't have a dog in that argument...but there is no way that the last 2-3 years, have shown that the Cats can be on top in 2-3 years.

As big as the turnover rate is with a lot of the college rosters these days, there's no reason to think that the Cats can't be back on top in 2-3 years.
