February 12, 200719 yr Tough one to swallow for the Cats. If the leading free throw shooter in the SEC just hits his average, we win in regulation. If he hits 75% we go to OT. It was just a bad night to have a horrible shooting night. Part of it was the Gators' D, but they missed a lot of open looks. Crowd was great, and proved once again that in a big game, it is the toughest environment in college basketball. Now lets get back on track with a W in Knoxville. Shut down Lofton like we did Humphrey and we will leave Big Orange Country with a big win.
February 12, 200719 yr ^ I definately think he was clutch...I remember being shocked when that shot from the wing bounced off. Me too! I definitely thought he had it, and I was heartbroken when I saw that ball bounce off the rim! He was my favorite UK player to come through in a long time...
February 12, 200719 yr The best part of this all is how out of the last 5 years or so between UK and Florida. The team that doesn't have the better players coming out of high school has won. During the years when we were taking it to Florida they had a great class in people like Walsh, Roberson, etc. while we were beating them with people who weren't ranked that great in Fitch, Daniels, Hayes, etc. It pretty much has just been reversed now the last two years, except Florida was able to win a title out of it. But if you have their best player Brewer, get hurt like Bogans did and then they probably wouldn't get by the Villanova team in the elite 8 last year to win the title...So its just weird how it has pretty been the exact opposite now of how it was 3 years ago...

She should have been ejected IMO. Just got back to my computer and this could be the most ridiculous post on here. For all the hotdogging and taunting of the crowd this jerkwad does and you're taking up for him. About the game itself and everyone saying UK didn't get Floridas best shot, Yeah right. It takes me back to my old Y coaching days where we taught tough hard nosed defense and after the game the other coach more often than not would say I don't know what was wrong with us today we haven't played that bad all year. I would just laugh to myself; thinking that in your jock D is why you played so poorly.

FWIW, neither one of them actually made contact with the other. I think Noah's more lucky than her though. If he strikes a spectator, even a cheerleader, that's probably going to earn a technical if the refs are watching.

February 12, 200719 yr Not me...the Cats played over their heads with effort, and almost came up with a biggie...now they have to get the hangover out immediately. 3-22 from 3 and 12-22 from the foul line. I don't think they played over their head.

Florida didn't have a single assist in the second half. The free throws are less an issue now than the threes. Florida took the same number of free throw attempts and only hit one more. UK could only make up one point if each team hit all the free throws they missed (two I guess if you count Bradley's miss on the front of a one and one). Bradley's free throws hurt badly though. How bad was his free throw shooting? He entered the game #1 in the conference in FT % (minimum 2.5 made a game). He exited the game #4. He entered the game with and 86% average and exited with 81%. Bradley had missed 12 free throws all year. He missed 5 during this game (just a hair under 30% of his new total missed free throws of 17).

The other transformed a championship program into a decent program. You might want to check with Billy D, then. 2-3 years ago when Tubby was OWNING Florida, Billy D was interviewed in a LHL story and said he wanted his program to be more like Tubby's. He was making changes to reflect more of Tubby's programs and less of what he was doing in the early 2000's. He said he needed to recruit more like Tubby and less like he was doing. Bringing in the major names that left after 1 or 2 years and more like Tubby bringing in players that would be there for the entire run. This was right after Prince/Bogans.
February 12, 200719 yr UK had every opportunity in the world to win this game...UF played poorly by there standards...They weren't hitting there outside shots, there big guys were in foul trouble and they didn't rebound very well, but, still managed to pull it out in a hostile environment...UK shot poorly from the foul line and even worse from 3 pt range...Both teams played very solid defense...I'm encouraged when the Cats meet them again, because, I can't imagine another 3 of 23 from the arc and I can't imagine Bradley, an 85% FT shooter, going 2 of 8 from the charity stripe again...

This was right after Prince/Bogans. :thumb: Always refreshing to hear voices of reason. UK won something like 11 or 12 straight, and now Florida has won 5 straight. "Right now Florida is a better team, but UK is still a better program"- Jay Bilas. UK has won more games over the past few years, except for Illinois and maybe Duke. Any other school would like to be a "decent" program like UK.
