St. X (9-3) will host Male (8-4) in the 3rd round of the 6A KHSAA playoffs. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm. St. X is coming off a 50-20 win over Bullitt East and Male is coming off a 15-14 win over Manual.

They previously met September 5 with St. X winning 38-7.

Male against good teams has only averaged 9 pts a game and were shut out by Trinity and Frederick Douglass. The defense has played well at times this season with their latest effort holding a good Manual offense to 14 points.

The St. X defense has played well including holding Male to one score in the previous meeting and will pose a big challenge to the Male offense. The lowest point total St. X has scored this season with Mason Trimble at QB is 24 pts against both Trinity and Elder (OH).

Male will have to have a great defensive effort in back-to-back games to pull the upset. St. X can't look ahead to a potential semifinal matchup with rival Trinity. Does Male get an upset two weeks in a row or does St. X take care of business and advance to the semifinals.

Got to admit, did not watch the Male/Manuel upset last night.  Thought the Bulldogs would get boat-raced in a redux of two weeks ago.  WRONG stupid me, it’s playoff football.  Can’t help but think the Bombers will not overlook the Bulldogs, but again it is Chris Wolfe/Dawgs/playoff football.

Is X the better team? Yes. But I thought the same was true heading into Friday's Male-Manual game. I think X should win but could be closer than expected.

X should win by a whole lot.

But I did think that about Manual. Just can't see them doing it two weeks in a row.

I think this one is gonna be a St. X win by 3 touchdowns. Coach Wallace has too much experience as a head coach to let a team that they beat by 31 earlier in the season come back and beat them the second time around.

X rolls. Not even close.

I went back and looked at St. X vs Male previous meeting and had forgot that Male's only score was by their defense scooping a fumble and scoring. Against St. X, Trinity, and Frederick Douglass Male's offense didn't score a point and that's the three best defenses they've played against.

Shouldn't be close.

St. X 28-7.

St. X streaming if sell enough tickets. Hopefully this game will be better attended than Southern and Bullitt East games. Louisville/Clemson home game last Friday didn't help attendance.
