I'm not understanding the Ohio football is just different/better comments in this instance.

Elder beat Louisville Saint X 26 - 24. Boyle beat X 14 - 3 and Highlands went toe to toe with Boyle (should have won?).

Elder beat CovCath 28 - 20 and Highlands beat CovCath.

Not saying Highlands should have won this game, but game should have been more competitive than 40 - 16?

Yes Ohio teams being twice as big makes a big difference. Congrats on the unbalanced numbers. If Highlands and Cov Cath combined and played Elder it would be a different story.

KY #1 Trinity lost to Moeller and Cincy St. X so I think Ohio football is better but not by a large margin.

Ohio is absolutely better and deeper. Most of that is a function of state populations and some of it is Ohio has always been a football state. But in the case of this Highlands - Elder matchup, I'm not understanding the free pass being given of "well it's Ohio football vs. Kentucky football". Highlands was the underdog, but I would have expected this game to have been more competitive.

Correct. Highlands didn’t plan or play their best.  But Elder would have still won by a couple scores if they did. If Trinity beat Wyoming (OH) I guess people would say football players in Kentucky are just better than football players in Ohio? Is that how it works?

HHS needed to play this game without errors.   Did not happen.  Too may mistakes to keep it close.  Pick 6, bad timed penalties,  bad angle on missed tackles.  Elder made mistakes that HHS did not take advantage of.  So score reflects the better team advantage.  HHS still needs to clean up the mental errors if they want to achieve their goal.

I will give you that they are a bigger school but twice the size is incorrect. Cov Cath has about 500 and Elder has 800. Highlands has about a 1,000 so I assume 1/2 boys?  This post is an excuse post with people trying to cope with the fact that Ohio just has better football teams. Highlands, Cov Cath, Trinity, and St X all have good teams but just not to the level of Southwest Ohio GCL. I mean doesn’t Louisville St X and Trinity each have about 1,200 students??  Maybe Elder and Moeller should have to combine to play them….lol.

What Division level would Highlands and CovCath be in Ohio?  Certainly not D1

No I don’t think they would say that. Elder has beat Highlads, Cov Cath, and St X. 3 of the better programs in KY. So yes they can say they are better than KY football.
