  • I say if that is your approach to the game, don't schedule the game.

Over on the Ohio message boards a guy said beat the cake eaters. First I've heard that but I'm not from Northern KY.

And NONE of this story is why they call HHS Cakeaters. I’ll save your the real story, but we actually refer to ourselves as Cakeaters and we have for Many decades and it really doesn’t offend us, so k

For Highlands, this game can be more harm than good given the time of season it is being played.  Certainly you play to win, but also have to guard against injury to key personnel.

Elder will be out to prove the point that Cincinnati high school football is better than Northern Kentucky high school football.  The Panthers are representing all of Ohio in this one and they are likely not going to let off the gas. If they can put a running clock on the Birds, they will, and I doubt they will put the 2nd team in until very late, if at all.   Elder players will be looking for helmet sticker hits on the O and the D.   If this gets out of hand early, I would hope that key players for the Birds get pulled and rested for next week.

Elder's QB may have surpassed Moeller's.....

Having watched both teams Friday night, I will say this will be Elder's game by at least 2 touchdowns.

I will agree with this comment.  Nothing against the Birds but this is a huge step up in competition. HHS is still the best team in NKY and I see them with deep run in the playoffs.

Elder is also coming off of a Super Bowl high from beating big bad Moe and their all world QB. That emotional peak invites a sleepy start the next week sometimes.

I agree that Elder will be looking to beat Highlands by as much as possible (should be the goal no matter the opponent) but I just don’t see them winning by more than two TDs. Elder likes to control the clock with patient drives, and Highlands has the size up front to keep the Elder oline from just bulldozing them.

One thing for sure is that the Highlands faithful have gotten their moneys worth on excitement so far this season.

Also how is Lorenzen. Very hard hit he took. Hope he’s able to go Friday.

That is fair, how would you compare it to Highlands' victory last week over CovCath?

The guys at work were to busy floating on cloud 9 Saturday and today, I’m sure tomorrow I’ll get the Ohio is better at football than kentucky stuff. I’ve been telling them all year Highlands isn’t a pushover.

Great hit, but thought he just had the wind knocked out.  Anybody got an update?

You need to start asking them about next week. Keep them sleeping on the ‘birds. We need everything we can get!

Yes, it’s similar, but I would say the right comparison would be if Highlands was playing Lloyd this week. No knock to Lloyd they’re tough as nails. I think the underdog factor erases the big win high / sleepy start pitfall.

Couldn’t agree more. I think Elder is the better  team but they don’t blow teams out very often due to their ball control/methodical style.
