Been at a work conference, so a little late to the party here.

Granted, he is walking away with generational money to not coach LSU, but Brian Kelly seems to be one of the worst humans in the college coaching profession.... strike that, ever. Maybe some with Cincinnati ties will refute this, but he single-handedly made me renounce my ND fandom with how he treated people. I HATE bullies, and this guy is up there with some of the all-timers.

 

 

Can't believe there hasn't been a Hugh Freeze firing yet.

I did see that his standing Sunday Tee-Time (in his wife's name) has been canceled and the time given to someone else...for whatever that may or may not mean.

He'll be gone by Tuesday I'd imagine. 

Rumors started to pop all over X that Freeze is out at Auburn, no confirmed reports yet.

 

 

South Carolina fired their OC this morning. Looks like Beamer is trying to cool his suddenly hot seat.

Too little too late.   People love him, but he's just not getting it done.  Ever since Spurrier left, it's been 1 step forward and 3 back.  Not just with Beamer but with Muschamp too.  They need someone there that pumps life into the team and makes Gamecock football exciting.  Beamer is a great guy, but he's not doing that.

Many P4 jobs are going to be revolving doors as long as NIL and the portal are how they currently are. Every time an Indiana or Vandy has that kind of turnaround, it’s going to turn the heat up on every single coach not performing. You’re going to get three years max to make a splash (meaning competing for the playoff) in many of these jobs, and that just isn’t realistic.

Va Tech may have wished they'd locked up Franklin sooner, Auburn is probably now going after him too.

This in season firing pattern is ridiculous. Where are you finding experienced coaches to head up these programs? When the dominoes start falling you are going to see names at mid majors eventually showing up that have never had HC experience on any level. Why would a coach leave a solid P4 program to fix a dumpster fire even for crazy money? The pool of assistants available will be staggering. Makes for a good off season on BGP lol.

I do think at some point some of these P4 programs are going to be caught with their pants down. Yeah it's P4 and yeah the money is good, but stability will eventually matter to some of these coaches, and they will stay at a "lesser" place to avoid the chaos.

No doubt, and to echo what's being said in years like this or even in general, "Who are you going to hire?"

Dillingham for example at Arizona State? He's not leaving there. Why would he? He's from there, played there, spent the first 10 years of his coaching career both in high school and college there. His wife is from there & didn't realize until earlier this morning when hearing they have their first child on the way this winter.

As if the above isn't enough reasons, he's at a place that can get to the college football playoff as they proved last year & if they were to have back to back 6-6 years? That seat won't get hot, all while making MILLIONS in a place where it's practically SUMMER year 'round.
