If Atherton wins it has to be a defensive battle with a score of 14-10 or so. 
 

Atherton may have a top 5 defense in the entire state, but the same cannot be said about their offense.

Crazy to think that he didn't even start at CAL last year as, technically per the KHSAA, a sophomore.  He's a reclass, but this is actually his 3rd year of HS ball.

Curious of the process here, how exactly is he still a sophomore if he was a sophomore last year?

I do not know the specifics of this student-athlete, but “reclass” students are not allowed and not eligible under KHSAA guidelines.
 

#1.  Once a student steps into a high school hallway as a freshman, the clock begins ticking and he/she has 4 consecutive calendar years of high school eligibility. 
 

#2. Each student must be on the normal pace for academic progress at the proper rate relative to his/her peer class. Example - If a student fails his/her freshman year and must repeat it, that student is not eligible for KHSAA participation the next year and not until he/she gets back on pace along with the class of freshman he/she entered high school with.

Yeah that is crazy.  He is really long and athletic.  I know Atherton's offense is ok not great.  I would think he would be their best receiver.
