Will do.    Steve has forgotten more basketball than you’ll ever know.  I’ve watched him take teams that had low expectations and he turned them into winners.   I’ve watched take team afte

If teams stay the same as they ended last season(which we know they won’t), my top 5 would look a little different. The top teams from last year all have major holes to fill. DCA has no one on that ro

Yes.

That makes them an immediate contender in the 12th region.

Just watched Boyle play in a couple of summer games at Nelson Co..  If they stay healthy then after the football season is over and the football players get in basketball shape look out.  When it gets district and regional time, this team could content for the regional title.   They looked pretty good under 1st year Coach Todd.  Just going to take a little time but it could be a good year for the Rebels.

We know Driver, Hager, and Webb can play.  Who else looked good?  They lost several seniors this past year.

Didn’t they beat Spencer County by 15 or so? That’s a great sign for a team that has a new coach and new pieces to blend. Spencer is a top 2-3 team in the 8th and has good size and can shoot it well. And that has played together for a while now.

I agree with you that they should be in the hunt in the 12th this year.

Wheeler played well during the games.

You guys say this every year about Boyle. Their guard play will have to drastically improve to be contenders imo.

They graduated 57% of their scoring so they'll have to find some points from somewhere.  Hager will help them but he and Driver pretty much play the same position.

There’s no reason they shouldn’t both be on the floor at the same time. That thinking is likely why Hager left.

I’m not saying that they shouldn’t be on the floor at the same time.  It’s just that they have similar strengths.  They are strong on the boards but neither of them is a particularly good outside shooter.  Boyle will have to get their outside shooting from the other three players on the court.  As of now, the only proven shooter coming back is Webb.

I really see them as different players. Similar measurables and both are athletic and strong, with Driver the most athletic kid in the region IMO. He’s a different level. His biggest strength is as a rim runner and he will destroy you on the boards. Hager can play back to the basket, but can face up and put it on the floor as well. I really think Boyle gains a lot offensively by playing those two together. They’re not similar players. As far as outside shooting, if they can just be a threat, that’s help. But I would agree that’s not what you’re counting on from those two.

Often what keeps coaches from being able to play two “bigs” at the same time is the defensive end, but both of these guys are quick enough to guard most 3’s and obviously can guard the 4 & 5. Meaning Boyle won’t be forced to play a zone in order to have them both on the floor at the same time. Honestly, if it were me, I’d play some 1/3/1 with Driver on the top. His length and athleticism could wreak havoc in that spot.

Regardless, I think they’re now in the mix in the 45th and in the region overall. Something I didn’t think would be the case at the end of last season.

A quality team will be left out in the 45th.  Excited to see how it unfolds.

Somerset won at McCreary today.  Higgonbtoam and Absher was a fun watch.

Boyle up 21-3 end of 1 on East Jess. Hager isn’t playing today.

Young guys for Boyle won the second Q 20-9.
