I do like West, but they have a ton to prove.  (Although, I do not know of the addition you speak of)  They melted down in the regional tournament against SW last year, but that could add fuel to their fire for the upcoming season. 

How did West melt down in Regional?  Lost by 16 at Southwestern in early January and the Regional game came down to a last second shot.

In a tie game, with 18 secs. left they fouled intentionally sending SW to line (where they made both FTS) leading to the 2 PT loss to SW.  I would say that's a pretty big blunder.  But, like I said earlier that should fuel the fire for this season.  I'm high on them.

Was that a coaching mistake or a mistake by a player?

I have no clue, but one of the more bizarre late game decisions I’ve seen.  My guess is the player just made a critical error, but there’s really no way of knowing unless you were apart of the team.

I'd rather count on the defense to get the game to overtime, especially with Tut in the middle, than to play from 2 behind with a limited clock.

I just rewatched it.  The Lincoln County announcers thought it was a coaching decision and given the way the kid fouled Dumphord I'd agree.  Not a good choice.

Steve has always been next level.  Especially when it comes to basketball.   Most folks can’t keep up so I understand your confusion.

Good stuff. For the sake of the West/SW argument, this chart in the article is the one that matters. I have no idea what the pre-game win probability was. West Jessamine had a better record, but Southwestern had beat the Colts by 16 in early January.

Watching the video it's pretty clear that they were going to #30 for a three based on their screening and his cut.  SW defended it well and he did the obvious thing which was to dribble into the lane for a pull up jumper.  It wasn't a bad play on his part.  The more logical option, IMHO, would be to attack the basket.  They've got Tut, who's a strong 6-9 and a 66% free throw shooter.  Get the ball on the rim with some time on the clock and if you don't make it you might draw a foul on the rebound.

I was using season stats.  In the handful of games prior to that one he was 0/2, 2/4, and 0/2 for 25%.  He was 2/3 in that game.
