Ok so going on 7 years ago.  Faulkner scored over 3,000 points for his career.  He averaged 26 as a senior and 16 as a freshmen. 

I thought Luke Imfeld had the ability to play DI for somebody.  Anyone who can shoot like he does can be a contributor in the right program.

I think Ateny from DCA can play D1. Schools like EKU, Morehead State Bellarmine.

He's getting some interest.  He had a good summer in AAU despite being slowed down for awhile with a sprained ankle.

To be able to play D1 you have to be able to guard your position at that level.  All guys at that level can score.  Imfeld had a great high school career.  Where did he end up and how was his college career?

He led Asbury in scoring last season at 14 PPG.  Out of high school, he went to Indiana Wesleyan a premier NAIA school and transferred to Asbury a season later.

You have to be really good to play any level of college basketball.  Congrats to him.  It is really rare to have a D1 level player in the 12th region as seen by the history of players that have made it that level out of this region.  It has been 7 years since the 12th region produced a D1 player and not sure how many they have had in the last 15-20 years but I would say probably less than 5 total.

I tend to agree with you but there seems to be a sliding scale on the defense/offense metric.  D1 coaches tend to go for the "athletes" who can't shoot so well if they have size.  How many times have you seen high school rankings with a player ranked highly and the comment "he needs to work on his shot......." is in the commentary?  Very often the coaches will take a chance on a guy who has D1 size and athleticism even if they aren't good shooters.  Plus, given the way the game is called these days with the increased physicality it's possible to be a decent scorer and not particularly a good shooter if you do most of your work around the basket.  

I think that you're right in general but in some systems, especially ones that rely on 3 point shooting, sometimes the coach will give up a little on defense to gain an outside shooting threat.  I think that's especially true for coaches who approach defense as a team concept and emphasize helping and realize that it's almost impossible to stop a good driver one on one.

What do you mean?

Well looks like the rich just got richer, DCA just got two more kids from overseas, one is over 7'0 and the other is a guard. Both are Sophomores. Good luck to the rest of the 12th region the next 3 years.

If they are international transfers they are not eligible to play this season (unless the rules changed)

I think the region is much deeper overall this year.  Southwestern and Somerset both gave DCA excellent regional tournament games last year, and aren’t in the top 5.  Both teams return a lot of production.  Rock will be in the mix as well with Craig coming back.
