I'm hearing DCA got another tranfer. Hearing he was home schooled last year and supposedly pretty good.

Will do.    Steve has forgotten more basketball than you’ll ever know.  I’ve watched him take teams that had low expectations and he turned them into winners.   I’ve watched take team afte

If teams stay the same as they ended last season(which we know they won’t), my top 5 would look a little different. The top teams from last year all have major holes to fill. DCA has no one on that ro

@LethalPG I had heard earlier in the spring that the Jumpers might be getting a freshman transfer from Taylor County for football.  It looks like he also played basketball.  Did that come to pass, and will he play both at Somerset?

If it's the Lofton kid he's probably there for football purposes. Most likely will be the starting QB for the Jumpers! He's decent in basketball, but football and track he's really good.

The kid played for Light and is not too bad.

Not sure about the Lofton kid.  The Wooldridge’s have came to Somerset from the Pulaski Co. system.  GJ (longtime middle school coach for Northern).  The incoming Freshman, Xavier played some good minutes this week for the basketball team.  Good looking athlete.  Somerset hosted games Tues and Wed, and defeated Jackson Co., Madison Southern and Somerset Christian.  They lost to North Laurel in a close one.

Some of the games were without Grundy and Bartley who were at camps for football and baseball, so a lot of young kids getting some good run for Somerset.

Given the pieces we know of right now, returnees and transfers, what are everyone’s thoughts on the top 5 heading into next season? And top 10 or so players?

1. DCA

2. West Jessamine

3. Pulaski Co.

4. Lincoln Co.

5. Somerset

Wayne Co, Southwestern, Rock and McCreary Central right there as well.  I predict another tightly contested regional tournament as usual.

Driver, Hager, and Webb will be a nice trip. Will need others to step up around them. I know some more of the football kids are going to come back out. Also heard Milburn will be back out.

I wasn’t aware Hager and Webb were playing for the Rebels.  That certainly makes them a contender.

I can see West, Pulaski, Somerset, Wayne or  Southwestern. I think West should be the favorite and Southwestern has the talent to be in the mix. Somerset always seems to peak come tournament time If Craig comes back at 100%, he puts Rock in the mix. He would be the best offensive player in the region.

While I’ve been someone that has picked DCA the last 2 years, I’m not there this year with the loss of Boyd and big Lou. Boyd was their MVP and leader on the floor. Second leading scorer and stat sheet stuffer. Best defensive player. Lou allowed them to play that style and changed everything around the rim on defense. They still have Atteny who is a top player in the region. But it is going to depend on them being able to play a different style (I would think) and doing so without the guy that led them for years. I do think they have a few other guys who have the ability to get you double figures on a given night. It’ll just depend on how they develop. I can see them being in the second 5 but could see them working their way up as well.

Owen Wheeler another Sophomore that played a lot for Boyle will also be back.

Jakeem Ray playing as well. If all of those guys play, that’s a lot of size, athleticism and likely a better perimeter shooting team than we’ve seen at Boyle for a while. That should put them in the hunt as well.

Hager, as in Maddox Hager?

Is he back at Boyle County?

So, who’s the odd team out in the 45th now?  Should be a monster district now.

I think DCA and Boyle each have a lot to prove but both could compete for the regional title IF all the pieces come together for them. Lincoln has more returnees but the loss of Fugate is big for them. Baird is really good and Robbins is good as well but I don’t think they have the upside of the other two. But they could end up being the best in the district, really depending on how the other two teams gel.

I’m unsure about Garrard.
