Arkansas 75 St. Johns 66 (NCAA Tournament 2nd Round)

Featured Replies

Final. A big win for the Hogs. Cal now is 3-2 in the tourney over Rick and 14-10 all-time. Arkansas can definitely win their next game against either Texas Tech or Drake.

Key player in this game - Boogie Fland. Arkansas loses that game without him.

Actually 6 seasons, since UL was ineligible in 2016. Three of those seasons were at Iona so that is a high bar asking that school to get to the third round. Then year one at St. John's was a complete

Kentucky fans are going to melt down if they lose tomorrow and Cal has taken a team further. 1/2 of it there.

Here is another interesting fact according to FanSided "in case it is not accurate" lol

Today's game is the first time in the 24 games in games with Calipari vs. Pitino that one of the two was not coaching Kentucky.

Arkansas played a tough physical defense against the Red Storm and St. Johns not being a very good shooting team especially from 3 caught up with them today. The Razorbacks held St. Johns top 3 scores over 10 points below their season average. Rick must have really been upset at Luis to hold him out the last 4:57 of the game.

I agree the defense wins games people should have loved this one. lol

StJohns just simply cannot shoot the rock!!

I knew they were not a very good shooting team but it does surprise Pitino doesn’t have at least one on this roster. Had more than enough opportunities to take the lead and just couldn’t.

Big win for Cal and Arkansas. Now 14 and 10 all time against Pitino, and 3 and 2 in the tournament against Pitino. This year has looked more like the Cal of old, when he usually always had his team playing its best come tournament time. That had not been the case the last few years at UK though.

This was a bad loss for Pitino. As great of a coach as Pitino is, he has now gone 7 straight seasons of coaching college basketball without making it past the first weekend. He has only made it past the first weekend 7 times out of the last 21 years coaching college.

Based on how some some people view Pitino compared to Cal. You definitely would have not thought this about Pitino in regards to his coaching against Cal, and overall poor tournament success over the last 21 years.

Yep and now the most likely will be able to mix in Theiro back into the lineup next week. Which would help if big guys get in foul trouble like today.

Happy for Cal… let’s go Cats!

Carter Knox was also a huge player in this game.
