Ole Miss defeats Iowa State 91-78. Ole Miss makes it now 7 SEC schools to make the Sweet 16 and they will play the winner of the Michigan State and New Mexico State winner.

Also it was announced that the SEC has the new record for the most teams from a conference to make the Sweet 16 with 7. 

Michigan State pulls away down the stretch and defeat New Mexico 71-63 and will take on Ole Miss.

Arizona leads Oregon by 6 with just over 8 minutes to play.

The game times are set for the Sweet 16 games this Thursday and Friday:

4 conferences is the least amount of conferences represented in the Sweet Sixteen since seeding began.  In fact, the previous record for fewest conferences represented in the Sweet Sixteen was 7.  

Also, this is the first tournament since 2007 that a team seeded 11th, or lower, has not made the Sweet Sixteen. It would seem that with NIL, and the transfer portal, that Cinderella has left the building.

Which I predicted when NIL became a thing. 

I’m all for players getting their money.  Universities have gotten rich off the backs of players for decades.  But this is the inevitable by-product.

I also think the data on teams is better now, making the seeding process more scientific than it was in the past.

I think this is the best illustration of the impact of NIL so far.

Seems like Pitino stating non football schools had the advantage might not be quite right...Football dominated conferences has the most revenue sharing thus the cash!!
