I think this was the case regardless of who won the 40th tonight.

The bad in this is one of the other 3 district champs opens the regionals with GRC.  But you were going to have go through them to get to Rupp regardless.

I’d be tempted to travel for a first-round Campbell-Clark matchup.

It’s Mays. I’m related to him.? I’ve gone through my entire life enduring the Mays-Mayes thing, lol. My FFA jacket in 1970 came back with Mayes stitched on it. That’s one example amongst many.

  • In the event that there are uninitiated newbies here, it’s the RPKOD club.   As is occasionally the case, the Runcible one, in the immortal words of Maxwell Smart, missed it by that much.

In regards to GRC fans wanting a technical called near the end of the game.  A Montgomery Co. manager and player ran on to the court prior to the game being over.  This could have resulted in a technical foul, but the referees let it go.  Looking forward to these two teams meeting up again at the regional tournament!!

I wasn’t there but I watched it. When that happened, wasn’t there just .8 seconds left.

Yes there was.  A couple guys were just a bit premature.  Good officiating to let it go in my opinion.

As someone who had not seen either team play before last night, MoCo looked like the better team to me.  There was a play with about 2 minutes left and GRC tried to press full court.  The Indians advanced the ball the length of the court with all 5 guys touching it and the ball only touched the ground once.  It was impressive.  Cayden Reed really elevates that team.

Everytime I buy in on a team they do this to me. I have to stop giving out compliments.

I'm in! Just going to be quite for now on. Or speak the opposite of what I think and see how that plays out.

@Honey Badger, per mcpapa, it's the "RPKD" Club.

Does anyone have any stats or game recap?  MoCo Coach is extremely slow in posting to KHSAA website.

1970?   By 1970 I was already…never mind.  I guess it’s possible that a relative might stray onto the site.

The Indians broke a nine-year, 23-game losing streak to their rival GRC in the 40th District Championship in a packed Paris gymnasium.  It’s Montgomery’s first district title since 2014.  It was tied after one quarter, 16-16, and Montgomery led 29-26 at halftime.  Cayden Reed made a pullup mid-range jumper to end the third quarter, extending the Indian lead 40-32.  A little luck from Dawson Gentry’s banked in three gave MoCo the 43-34 lead a minute into the fourth.  Things would stay out of reach until Malachi Ashford made a three, stole the inbounds pass, and made a layup to make it 45-41 with 5:45 left.  Montez Gay’s three-point play with two minutes left made it a 51-49 game, with Clark trailing.  Malachi Ashford would himself have a three-point play as well to make it a one-point game with a minute left.  But, Cayden Reed would make five straight free throws in the fourth to seal the win.  Montez Gay led GRC with 15 points and Malachi Ashford added 11.  Tyce Jarvis led MoCo with 15 points and was named player of the game.  Cayden Reed scored 12.

Thanks, Brooksville.  Appreciate your game synopsis.  MoCo Coach Mayes is usually at least a week late in posting game stats to the scoreboard.

Sorry for the error.  Like to blame it on spell-check, but I honestly deliberated and then lost the 50-50 ball.
