2025 Boyle County Rebels

Boyle County

2024 Outcome: 12-1, lost in the Regional Finals to Covington Catholic

2025 Outlook: Boyle's streak of 4 straight state championships came to a halt in 2024. Now the Rebels look to bounce back. They will be battle tested with another extremely tough schedule ahead. Bullitt East, LCA, Lex Cath, Highlands, Ballard, St X., and Frederick Douglass all await. Then a district schedule of Lincoln County, Wayne County, and Russel County. Anything short of a state championship is a disappointment in Title Town, so the coaches and players know what is expected and what to expect.

? Demauriah Brown (RB/DB) | Montavin Quisenberry (ATH/DB) | Austin Bodner (WR/DB) | Jaysia Richards (LB) | Geordon Brown (WR) | Gage Feltner (LB/RB) | Jackson Burger (DL) | Lyndon Smith (WR) | Brock Driver (LB/RB) | Paul McClure (OL/DL) | Samuel Wade (OL) | Cole Andrews (OL/K) | Andrew Carr (K)

?  Baylor Murphy (QB) | Colt Kelly (OL/DL) | Cliffton Yocum (DL/OL) | Jakeem Ray (WR/DB) | JiDyn Smith-Hisel (RB/DB) | Darryl Yancey (RB/DL) | Kain Logan (RB/ATH) | Bubby McPherson (DB/WR) | Jax Crowe (DL/OL) | Seneca Driver (WR/DL) | Nathaniel Schepman (DB/WR) | Brayden Borders Coffman (LB) | Lucas Akers (LB/TE)

The Rebels lose a lot of production from that 2024 team. They lose their top two rushers and 2300 yards and 29 TDs on the ground from Demauriah Brown and Montavin Quisenberry. They lose four of their top five receivers in terms of yardage in Tavi, Lyndon, Geo, and Demauriah. Their top three scorers per game are gone. Their three top tacklers are gone in Gage Feltner, Brock Driver, and Jaysia Richards. On offense they lose 7/11 and defense they lose 7/11.

Now let's talk about the 2025 team. The cupboard is never bare at Boyle County. The expectation never changes. It's state title or bust. On the offensive side of the ball the Rebels bring back their QB, Baylor Murphy. In his first year of starting he threw for 2009 yards on 77% completion percentage, with 30 touchdowns and 1 INT. There will likely be a RBBC approach as Ji'Dyn Smith-Hisel has the most carries from last year returning with 182 yards on 34 carries and 3 TDs. Darryl Yancey and Kain Logan will both likely get touches as well. Bubby McPherson, Seneca Driver, Jakeem Ray, and a multitude of others will likely be the primary receivers and are more than capable of carrying that load. Colt Kelly and Briley Burris return up front, and there will likely be a couple more who played a lot of DL go both ways this year. Christian Bryant is a name to watch. He's a freshman who received an offer from EKU as an 8th grader at their camp.

On defense, the DL will likely be a strength as Cliffton Yocum, Seneca Driver, and Jax Crowe are back to man the line of scrimmage. All 3 linebackers have graduated, but names like Lucas Akers, Brayden Borders-Coffman, and a couple others will likely make a splash there. Three are gone from the back end, but Jakeem Ray and Bubby McPherson have both got tons of reps and started games and should be ready back there.

It's State Championship or bust for Boyle County. There are no feel good stories, no excuses, or let downs. The standard is the standard out that way. How do we feel like the Rebels will look in 2025?

  • Found this old pic of @Hatz and @Rebel working out.  @ChiefSmoke might have come over and had a go also.

  • Big week for some Boyle County players.  All received offers from Southern Mississippi.  Seneca Driver, Jakeem Ray, Christian Bryant, Ashton Drakeford, and Bubby McPherson.  Congratulations

Man, that's a tough schedule.

Quisenberry was a VERY special player (generational).  You can't replace him.

But Boyle has high quality players to plug in and I assume by the playoffs, they will be right in the picture to make a deep run.

To be mentioned as a contender in any class is an honor, but especially this loaded 4A class it's an honor for Boyle County and it's going to be even more loaded with the addition of Highlands.  I have a tough time believing Boyle fall from that contender spot and even though they lost some top notch athletes, they have a couple key athletes returning (as mentioned above) that are serious difference makers.

This is a familiar situation for Boyle County. The 2022 team stepped on the field without some key players from the prior year including Jagger Gillis at QB, (2,551 passing yards and 30 pass TD, 560 rushing with 15 rush TD, and a defensive TD), lost their top three receivers who combined for 116 receptions, 1,863 yards and 25 touchdowns, and played without two of their five leading tacklers (with the third hurt much of 2022) from the prior year. A program like Boyle reloads and I am sure they will be in contention in a strong 4A class. I believe out of the programs that have pulled off a 4-peat or more, Boyle County is the only one that has done it twice.

Boyle lost a ton in 2019 after the loss to Johnson Central.  We all know what happened the next 4 years.

Boyle will be fine and has a good group of players ready to fill in to go along with the players coming back.  JV, Freshman, and Middle school teams where all very good!  With the schedule they may got 7-3 or 8-2 but will be ready to go come November to contend for #13!

Does anyone have the 2025 Schedule yet?

I read that they have Highlands, Bullitt East, St. X, Fredrick Douglas and Lexington Catholic.  Wayne, Lincoln and Russell are their District game with Taylor moving to a different district (that was I was told).  Now this is just what I seen from a post.  Just noticed that it is at the top of this page.

The Bullitt East game against Boyle is at the Rafferty Bowl in Bowling Green.

Boyle vs. Bullitt East, Bowling Green vs. O'boro Catholic?  Wow!

We will find out right away what Owensboro Catholic has.  My guess is BG will put a running clock on them.  Life after Brady Atwell is not going to be very much fun for OC.

Let's not forget the current Junior Class (26) when they were 8th graders they was very bad. So it wouldn't surprise me to see Boyle lose a couple of games next year.

I think Ballard is on there as well.

Ashton Drakeford has enrolled at Boyle County. Great player from Mercer County.

St. X will be playing at Boyle County so I look forward to going there for the 1st time.
