A buddy recorded the game and was running way behind live action.

He said that he'd just finished the first quarter. I told him to just FF through boring 2nd and 3rd to the 4th and enjoy.

I have one question it was late in the game there was a defenseless receiver for ASU that was hit by a UT linebacker with the helmet above the neck in the head area that was called targeting on the field but overturned by replay?

It appears, that every league, ACC, SEC, Big Ten, Big XII has no clue what targeting is or is not.  There has been several this year that I thought was textbook targeting calls only to be overruled by replay. So, I guess my concern is we do one of two things. Get on the same page about that call, where everyone knows what it is when they see it, or simply remove it from the rulebook and all hits go! Way too much judgment for replay to overrule the call on the field. Just my $.02 worth.

I don’t believe it was called targeting on the field. The replay officials are the ones that rang down and told the officials to look at that play for possible targeting.

No dog in this fight.  But that was targeting.

If it wasn’t, then there’s no such thing.  Let’s not pretend we’re protecting the players, and just put on our Jack Tatum helmets.
