Word from Sherrin Avenue is that the Rocks have hired former NFL and Louisville Cardinal Breno Giacomini to help coach offensive line. Giacomini is a longtime NFL veteran with a Super Bowl ring from the 2013 Seattle Seahawks victory. He also was 2nd team All-Big East while blocking for Brian Brohm and the Cardinals. Should be a tremendous addition to Coach Cobb's staff and a team that returns All-State candidates Nate Shields and Dakari Beckham. 

Have also heard that former PRP HC Tommy Williams has joined the staff to work with QBs and the offense in an undetermined role (by me anyway!) He had several solid years with the Panthers and was beloved by their community it seems.

I wonder if that’s Ashton Taylor.  If it is, that’s a solid pickup for KCD.

My understanding it is Ashton.   Also heard Bilal Powell is leaving St Xavier and is joining the Trinity football staff.

Interesting about Powell.  He just left CAL last year for St. X, although it was in the youth program.  Maybe he’s realizing he won’t be getting the HC job for St. X, but who knows.  Spent the afternoon at GRC for Battle of the Regions today.  KCD is getting a couple of real solid players next year so with the addition of Taylor, in a year or so they’ll be serious 1A contenders.  A lot of good 8th grade talent today, but almost all of it from the Louisville metro area are heading to private schools next year.

That would be a tough loss if true about Bilal Powell.

My nephew was the QB for the yellow team, Region 2. He's going to Bullitt East.

Please re-read my comment.  There was a key word in front of the word "all".  I know the other Region 2 QB, Chase Browning from Anchorage, appears set to go to St. X.  I wish your nephew good luck at BE.  There will be some decent QB competition there the next few years.  A couple of decent QBs ahead of him and one really solid QB a year behind him.

Brutal.

Zane Johnson received an offer from Appalachian State a few days ago. He's previously received offers from Miami  (OH), Southern Miss, and EKU.

Big things ahead for Zane, already a two-time state champion with two seasons still to go in a T uniform and DI offers coming in.

 

Congrats Zane!  I am sure there will be many more to come.
